Rory laughed, replying, “Since we intend to honor the commitment, that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Lou checked his laptop, which he’d brought with him, found the email from the contractor with the contract, and e-signed it.
Their last visitor was the carpet layer. Lou had chosen him because one of the cops he worked with had given him high recommendations a month ago, when he’d had his living room re-carpeted. Since it was only the ground floor that needed work, it didn’t take long for them to decide on the type and color of carpet. The man had a contract with him, which he filled out and Lou signed.
“And that’s it for now,” Lou said with a sigh of relief when the man left.
“You look like you’ve been through the mill,” Rory commented.
“Feel like it, too. I need a good stiff drink.”
“I know a place not too far from here, if you want some company,” Rory said.
“Not a good idea. I mean anywhere around here. We took a chance going to the restaurant yesterday.”
