Chapter 28

“I wish I could take you to some quiet little restaurant somewhere for us to celebrate our last night with each other,” said Dominic. “But nothing is open, is it?”

“No, I don’t think so,” replied Sandro. “But, you know, I would rather just spend the evening with you, like all the other evenings we have spent together, just talking, cuddling, maybe watching a movie that we won’t pay much attention to. What we have to eat doesn’t matter at all. I just want to spend the time with you and not share you with anyone else in the world.”

“Yes, we can talk freely. We can hold hands. We can put our arms around each other. And I want to do all of that on this last night.”

Even though they were still out in the street, they held onto each other tightly as they walked. Again they were quiet, each man to his own thoughts. But they each knew what the other was thinking.

Finally, Dominic broke the silence. “Will you come visit me?” he asked Sandro.
