Chapter 29

The trip home did not go well. His flight to New York out of Rome was delayed because of bad weather in the northeast. An early winter December snowstorm was making its way up the east coast, paralyzing several major airports. After a delay of six hours, his flight finally took off. But when he arrived at the airport in New York, he found that his flight to Detroit had been canceled. It took a while for the airline to rebook him on another flight, which took him to St. Louis and then back to Detroit. He arrived home twenty-four hours later than planned, grumpy and exhausted. He would have to report to work in just eight hours. The extra day he had planned at the end of the vacation to rest and get rid of the jet lag was gone.
