Chapter 19

My gaze lingered on his leather jacket. Katherine gave him that jacket for his last birthday—he had wanted it so badly despite not having the money for it.

Taylor looked into my eyes. “Are you checking me out?”

I frowned. “Don’t be silly. You know you’re not my type.”

Taylor’s previous comment was awkward. However, we had known each other long enough that offhanded comments weren’t embarrassing. Even that time when we all snuck out into the woods one-night last year to party and Taylor had asked if I thought he was hot. I nodded and left it at that. The question was harmless, though. He had been going through a rough patch with Katherine that night, and probably needed an ego boost.
