Chapter 24

Fire spat out of my palms before I could even process what I was doing. It splattered onto the ground and jolted toward the two goblins. Thoughts about rage, guilt, shame, anger, and revenge continued furiously through my body. The flames then formed a circle around the goblins, ending their laughing.

“What’s going on?” Joseph asked.

“Let us go,” protested the first goblin.

I laughed while the roaring and size of the fire multiplied in volume. “I never said anything about going quietly.”

Joseph scowled. “Let us go! We promise we’ll leave you alone.”

“You have to believe us,” said the second goblin.

I sneered. “Then you should’ve given my grandma a chance.”

The first goblin’s jaw twitched. “We aren’t evil. We swear it.”

“We can give you our loot,” said Joseph.

I shook my head. “I’m not interested in money. My family has plenty of that, thank you very much.”

“There has to be something we can do,” said Joseph.

I cackled even louder. “No. Not anymore there isn’t.”
