“Give it time, honey. She’ll reveal herself eventually, and we can only hope people will be less gullible when her true colors show.”

Yeah. That would have been a great idea if Queen Vivian hadn’t already revealed herself. I still remembered the conversation I overheard with Sirch and his associate the previous evening. The conversation implied they were exterminating nonmagical people. But I couldn’t share that news with Mom, though.

“Something wrong, honey?” Mom asked.

Great question. I wanted nothing more than to vomit out my thoughts. Yet doing so would’ve done more harm than good. Besides, I wanted nothing to ruin my mood. Stefan and I were more than fine even though we took a big step by sleeping together. Perhaps life could be great if I thought it would be great.

“No, I’m good. I’m just hungry.” I smiled.

She grinned. “Patience, dear. I’m making the bacon first, and then I’ll start the omelet.”
