Chapter 59

Sirch gave the secret police wolf a dirty look. “Let me do the talking.”

I grunted. “I did nothing wrong.”

“I’m sure it’s only a formality. Now please let us in,” Sirch said.

Interesting. Sirch was one of those people who fucked everyone with a smile. And no, the assessment wasn’t harsh. He hadn’t been blatantly mean yet. But he proved his connection to me was superficial at best. I opened the door, and Sirch trekked in after the wolves.

Shit. Shit. Shit. There was no way Sirch and the secret police wolves could be here in my house. It had to be some nightmare. No amount of pinching would change my unfortunate reality.

“Where should we start?” asked one of the secret police wolves.

“How about the basement?” Sirch asked.

“I can show you the way,” I said, ignoring my stuttering.

Sirch shook his head. “That’s okay. You can stay here with me.”
