“Did she tell you what we discussed?” I asked.
Raquel giggled. “No. Don’t be silly. Anastasia isn’t evil. She would never betray your confidence.”
“That’s nice.” I nibbled on a few chips. I sniffed the air.
I should’ve noticed the lilac smell wafting through the air the second Raquel and I sat down.
“Something wrong?” Raquel asked.
“Your lilac perfume reminds me of Katherine.”
“That’s why I started using it. Although I wish I knew where she was.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you where she is. And it has nothing to do with trust. I can’t take the risk of someone interrogating you,” I said, grabbing the last couple of chips from my bag before crumpling it up into a ball.
“I understand. Although I hope she’s well.”
Hopefully, my optimism wasn’t for nothing. The thought of Katherine dying was too much. 34
I stood in the warehouse with Hilda and Hank several hours after my conversation with Raquel.
