“Let me see.” Stefan took the newspaper and looked over the article.

Anastasia snickered. “I can’t say I feel bad for her. With any luck, this will overshadow her engagement.”

Queen Vivian’s engagement was yesterday’s big news. Pictures of the happy couple had dominated the headlines, while our congratulations had been noticeably absent. I would’ve wondered if I had been sandbagged, since the press coverage had gone from extravagantly favorable to something scathing in less than a day. Besides, an article of this magnitude must have taken a little time and planning.

Stefan placed the newspaper back down on the kitchen counter. “I wonder who leaked the news, because the article only names an anonymous source.”

Anastasia giggled. “It wasn’t me.”

“Don’t look at me,” I said. “It must have been the Resistance.”

Anastasia shifted her attention to me. “Anyway, thank you for letting me stay in your house in light of what Vivian did to me.”
