Chapter 51

Cillian felt a pang of sadness at the thought of Angel.

But back to the important business at hand. “How are you feeling, Dante?”

He coughed, and a bit of blood appeared at the edges of his lips. Cillian made a mental note to address that with Zoe. “Never been better,” he said in a raspy voice.

Cillian fetched him some water and made him drink.

“I had a dream.”

“Really? People don’t usually dream under deep anesthesia.”

“Not during surgery, just now.”

Feigning interest, “Oh, what about?”

“There’s something happening on this ship.”

“There’s a lot going on. People are living their lives, doing their jobs, taking care of their children—” The last of which he hoped to be doing soon.

“No, something sinister.”

Cillian sighed. Of course it would be a nightmare. “Luckily, it’s just a dream. Try to get some rest.”

Dante gripped his arm tighter. “No, you don’t understand.”

“I’m sure it felt very real.”

“It wasreal.”
