“Do you really think the authorities will take that risk? Look at you, Cillian. You have alien spores running through your body. And the lab is full of creatures that could potentially do to anyone what happened to Whalen. How did he end up the way he is? Something got to him like that fern got to you. How could any of us know that the animal responsible isn’t one of the samples?”


“The missing spider. What if it got out, or Whalen let it out?”


Cillian didn’t see any evidence of the creature on Whalen’s body, but then, he didn’t look at the whole man. And it could be as simple as a sting, a bite, or another spore.
