The science section absolutely thrilled her—and Jack, too. There were engineering lessons and a giant periodic table. Jack pointed things out to her and explained them in detail. Cillian looked on with contentment. Their daughter took after Jack far more than she did him, so perhaps a career in engineering or science was in her future. Sure, he wouldn’t mind if she got into medicine like he did, but he certainly wouldn’t feel bad if she chose something more like Jack.


They spent more than an hour engaged in science. She solved puzzles, played games with the other kids, and learned so much. Though the goal was just for Henri to have fun, he was happy that she got an education, too.
