Chapter 3

Marc was thrilled to be in the new house. When he’d found the posting online, it had seemed too perfect. A three-bedroom house with an attached two-car garage, within walking distance of work? He’d be far enough from his parents that he wouldn’t run into them in the grocery store, but close enough he could easily pop over and help them with their cars or washing machine or whatever mechanical doodad they’d managed to break this time. The post had barely been up for an hour before he was in a conversation with Lacie about the specifics.

And now, only a couple short weeks later, he was moving in his new room. His brother, Ben, had helped him get his belongings hauled over from their parents’ house. After Marc had finished carrying in his own limited belongings, he’d helped his new roommate carry in the last of his boxes. Abraham, Lacie’s boyfriend, had tried to cajole them both downstairs for a break.
