Chapter 5

Here it was completely silent.

He stretched out wide, taking up as much of the bed real-estate as he could, and sighed his contentment.

When they had gotten in at close to 4:30 in the morning, David had offered Oliver the shower and an armload of clothes, and Oliver had accepted gratefully.

It was another of the little details he hadn’t considered in his exhaustion. Mr. Ellis was shorter than he was, much shorter, and Oliver would have been forced to stay in his smoky clothing, or hangout in a towel as he ran what he had on through Mia’s parents’ washer and dryer.

When he’d returned after a cleaning up, he found David making up his guest room with fresh sheets and was told his clothes were in the washer.

“I’ve got Mia set up down the hall on the other side of the kitchen, near mine.” David smiled. “That way you’ve more privacy.”

Oliver had nodded.
