“It’s all right,” Graham said. “You did nothing wrong. Obviously, he’s still too tired from the teleporting, so his control has been compromised. He’ll rest, and then everything will be fine.”

“If he doesn’t have magic, how did he do that?”

Graham hesitated. “Martin told you about familiars, correct?”

“He told me Rowan was going to be mine. That’s all. That’s what Rowan and I were talking about when…” His pent-up adrenaline was giving him a headache, and he started pacing to try to make it go away. “Rowan said familiars were bodyguard assistant things. He didn’t say anything about turning into a giant cat.”

“A familiar is a lot of different—2rdquo;

“Don’t tell me he turns into a dog, too.”

“No, that’s—2rdquo;

“Is he dangerous?”

“Not to you.”

“But to others.”

“He can be, but—2rdquo;
