He wasmagic. It was the lifeblood of every familiar and why being caught in the wake of powerful spells like the teleportation one sapped his strength so much. Like matching polarities on a magnet. It took effort to synchronize in order to work.

As Alec came around the bed, Rowan snatched up his discarded sweats. “I’m fine,” he called out, scrambling into them without being seen. “Hang on.”

The footsteps stopped. “You have nothing to be modest about, you know. You are the most fit guy I’ve ever seen.”

Modesty had nothing to do with it. He didn’t want to muddy his thinking even more by risking another inappropriate reaction to Alec’s attraction. Their relationship might not be as casual after napping together, but it was still very young and very uncertain.
