Chapter 31

“Don’t think it, Will,” he said.

Will glanced at Alec and winked. “Of course not.”

“Think what?” Alec winced as the bandage came free. The bruising had deepened, with yellows and greens mottling his stretched skin.

Cradling the heel, Will rotated the joint slowly. “It’s not broken.”

“Don’t,” Uncle Martin repeated.

“Don’t what?” Alec pressed.

“I haven’t used any magic since the transmogrification spell.” Will’s hands were growing warm. “I won’t even feel it.”

But Alec sure was. “Will someone tell me what’s going on?”

“It’s a healing spell,” Will said. “And it’s the least I can do after everything I put you through.”

“You need to rest,” Uncle Martin argued.

Alec would’ve thought so, too, but Will seemed confident. “Is he right?”
