“Now that, you have to figure out for yourself,” she said. “The body is my domain. Magic is yours.”

With the questions out of the way, and more still to find answers to, conversation drifted away from Alec’s exam. Will plied Dr. Lewis with questions about how the area had changed in his absence, flirting outrageously with her whenever Martin would intercede, but Alec remained silent, seemingly focused on his food.

Rowan knew better. He could tell by the way Alec kept looking around the table when he thought nobody was paying attention that he was listening in on every word. Dr. Lewis might’ve allayed his own fears about Alec’s well-being, but her inability to explain the rest of it worried even him.
