When the knock came at the front door, it startled all three of them. Rowan quickly rose to answer it, Alec trailing after to watch him greet a short, dark-haired woman in her thirties.

“You must be Alec,” she said, stepping inside. She wore no makeup, but her lashes were thick and long, highlighting the intelligence in her brown eyes. Smiling, she held out her gloved fingers. “I’m Dr. Lewis.”

“Thank you for doing this,” he said as he shook her hand. “There’s no way I’d find a doctor in Florida who’d offer a house call.”

“Our families go too far back for me to ever say no.” When her gaze slid past him, her smile deepened. “Looks like the gang’s all here. Hello, Marty.”
