Will grabbed his arm a moment later. “What the hell happened back there?”

Wrenching free, Alec walked briskly toward the lobby. “Miami drivers hate pedestrians.”

“He shouldn’t have seen you at all. Where’s the charm?”

He yanked the coin out of his front pocket. “Been there all night.”

“Then you talked to someone at the club.”

“I didn’t talk to him.”

“You said something. It wasn’t Zander, was it?”

They were at the front door. Alec yanked it open. “No,” he said, lowering his voice. The lobby wasn’t very big, and they didn’t need any more attention as they strode for the stairs. He had zero desire to climb ten flights, but they’d already decided the elevator held too many risks. “Someone knocked into me. All I did was say thanks when he stopped me from falling on my ass.”
