Chapter 97

Though he didn’t necessarily agree with letting Hector go, Rowan watched this harder-edged Alec in fascination. He had shown signs of going back to the flippant, happy-go-lucky guy Rowan had met in DC, but it was na?ve to think there wouldn’t be permanent changes in his personality. Too much had happened. What astonished him was how exciting he found the new possibilities. Being in Alec’s life would be a constant thrill, whether they were quiet moments spent asleep in each other’s arms or facing off dangers like Hector together.

“What about me?” Zander complained when Hector lurched to his feet.

“I’ll get to you in a minute.” To Rowan, Alec said, “Can you keep an eye on Hector while he packs his bag?”

Translation: Don’t let me have made a huge mistake by potentially misjudging him.
