Chapter 27

Talk about a libido crusher.

They knelt face-to-face in the small space. Sharing breath. Sharing warmth. Sharing more than he ever imagined only a few meetings before. Nick pulled his hands out from under John’s shirt with reluctance, resting them on his knees.

“You’re buying me a cup of coffee when we’re done, right?” Nick’s voice quavered.

“We get out of here and you can have anything you want.” John’s lips quirked upward in a smile. The gesture as uncertain as Nick felt, but somehow more reassuring.

“I’m going to hold you to that.” Nick took another deep breath and gagged. “God, I don’t think I can do this.”

“You can.”

Nick sagged against John, grateful for his support. How difficult had this been for John? Trapped here alone with Dean, facing the hard decision without Nick’s training. The only bright spot was in sparing John the trauma.

“I know you can.”

“How?” Nick muttered his reply into John’s neck. “This is only the third time we’ve met.”
