“Sorry, that was an unfortunate choice of words,” Carlton said. “On the other hand, it describes what happened to them.”

“Now that my work is done, I think we need to get on the road,” Lydia said.

“You’re welcome to stay for lunch,” Carlton said.

“And I’ve no doubt that it would be a wonderful lunch,” she said, “but both Miklos and I have things to take care of at home. We’ll stop somewhere on the interstate for a snack.”

The visitors retired to their room to change and pack, leaving Eric and Carlton in the family room.

“This has been an interesting couple of days, hasn’t it?” Eric said.

“Yeah, and we’ve got a lot of catching up to do,” Carlton said.

“Catching up?”

“Transcribing the sessions, studying them, and trying to make better sense of them than we have so far.”

“Yeah.”

“Meanwhile, I need to run downstairs to the office for a minute,” Carlton said.

“I’ll wait here for our guests.”
