Mr. Abraham squeezed his shoulder. “I know you care for him, even before you told us your real feeling. But will you trust me when I tell you that we care about Nate, too? We won’t do anything that will harm him. He’s our son, for goodness’ sake. It broke us when we had to send him to a local community college because he wouldn’t survive being away from us. Even then, he still couldn’t follow his lessons properly. He stayed awake at nights for fear he’d get nightmares once he closed his eyes. As a result, he was practically useless during the day, let alone attending classes.”
