Chapter 5

Arvid tried to breathe through the pain, but damn, his wing hurt. He should change back to his human shape and assess the damage, but he didn’t want to. The wind almost knocked him over despite sitting close to the trunk.

“Come on now. The sooner you get out of there, the sooner we can get warm, okay? And I’m hungry. You know what they say about a hungry bear.”

Arvid didn’t. Hungry asa bear, sure, but not what was said about a hungry bear.

“Come on. I know you can’t fly. I know you’re hurt. And I’m guessing you’ll be cold as hell soon. If it makes you feel better, I can drop you off in the village once you’re changed and dressed, but we can’t go there right away. I’m not walking naked to Rosalinda. She might never make me those Conchas again.”

Food? The bear was thinking about food? Didn’t he realize Arvid was an omega, or whatever bears called creatures like him? Swaying on the branch, he peeked out between the spruce needles.
