Chapter 25

I realized I had no energy to be mad at her this morning, so let loose the smile that had been tugging at my mouth.

Mindy squealed anew, pulling me in for a hug.

“Ouch—coffee,” I said as I felt the sear of hot liquid leak through my jeans.

“Sorry, sorry, sorry.” She danced back a pace, then her shoulders slumped. “I really amsorry, Theo. I mean, about doing you-know-what with you-know-who. That was a real bitch move on my part.”

“It’s okay. Not like I was going out with him—I’d pretty much written him off anyways.” I took another sip. “It’s not like I had any legitimate hold on him, so in that sense, you don’t even have to apologize, I guess.”

“Fine, I take it back,” she said with a wide grin, lunging forward for another hug. I leaned back, holding my cup away from my body. She settled for taking my other arm and dragging me back to the lecture hall.
