Yet Another Sacrifice

This can't be. This can't go on any longer.

"W-Wait...!" Ercilia cried, staggering forward a few steps.

"I-Iorwerth, take me with you, please."

"I'll be back soon, my lovely Ercilia…" Iorwerth hummed.

"Continue to behave until then."

"No, please. Don't leave me here. It's so dark, so dark."

"Oh?"

He had asked, voice unsurprising, uncaring, as if he was just humoring her with her answer. After that, he said no more, and she felt more tears coming.

"Get me out of here, get me out of here, please, get me out of here, please."

The words fell from her lips - a plea, a chant, a prayer, the last of her slim hope, begging for it to reach him.

She took in a sharp breath as she felt his hand cup her chin, and she let her sliver of hope light up within her. He walked back to her - he would take her out of here, she would see the sun, she would feel its warmth again, she could finally be free.

Or at least, that's what she thought.
