Choosing Sides

"Hey, V… Join us for lunch." Nancy offered.

Veronica raised her eyebrow. "What's the occasion?"

"I don't know," Nancy said. "Just wanted some more company."

Amy looked at Nancy, not understanding why Nancy would do such a thing. Nancy and Veronica had a never-ending bad blood since they were in middle school. So, this was very unexpected for both Amy and Veronica. Amy understood that Nancy was worried about anyone associated too much with David because she had witnessed him perform heinous acts for Sebastian with her own two eyes.

Nancy's concerns were valid. Not because she was suddenly a nice soul and had started caring for everyone, but because it was needed if she wanted to protect herself alone. Imagine getting used by Veronica at some point. To avoid such scenarios, Nancy had to make sure to come clean to everyone she felt necessary.

"Sure, I guess." Veronica nodded.
