Jasmine

Everyone backed up, too terrified by the situation to do anything else, I wasn't really scared of snakes. If I could heed one I would already have one, it's the venomous ones that scare me. The basic fact that one bad bite makes the line between life and death thin as a tread is just terrifying.

" Jassmine, Bryan deal with the snake. Greyson is going to be fine" As Sister Avaline spoke the snake was now half in the air with a hood, sticking its tongue out to task the air.

"What do you mean 'deal with the snake!?'' Bryan and I said, speaking together.

I knew what Sister Avaline ment but I didn't want to believe it. I wanted to be normal, me and Bryan wanted to be normal, with a family, not with some random person coming into our life and turning it upside down.

This was crazy, but this might just be our normal.

I looked over to Bryan where he was already bending down to pick up the snake like all of this was normal. I guess I just have to get used to it. I thought, trying to still get this all around my head.

I could hear the hissing complaints of the snake as Bryan picked it up, but that wasn't my priority anymore. It was Greyson, yeah the same person who was bit and will be "fine" was awake , and I wanted answers.

Not even caring for the situation anymore I walked across the room and stood over him as he stirred like waking from a nap. "Jassmine!" I ignored Sister's voice and kneeled down so I met his gaze. "Greyson..Lets chat okay?" The room went cold, my vision blurry, the walls went black and there was a voice. It was Brian's voice.

'Where are we?'

I tried to speak but my mouth wouldn't open, I only had my thoughts.

'Bryan can you hear me?'

'….yes'

Literly what the fuck is happening. This wasn't the bassment room, this wasn't even in the church. Greyson was still under me, looking around trying to speak by the looks of it.

I stood up and looked around, the pitch black room looking like it would stretch for miles on end. Sister Avaline was standing, bending her knees and trying to walk. Failing so missably, like she was tapped to the earth itself.

'Sister?' I wanted to see if she could hear me.

The room then changed again, Sister and Greyson went there. I looked behind me and saw Bryan looking bejeweled, "Jass…" He could speak, he raised his arm pointing at something in the distance.

It was a cage, and inside was a wolf.

The walls were no longer black, yet it was like we were somewhere else entirely, it was a basement or maybe a bunker?

There was a lache then there were footsteps, it was a girl. The same girl from the school incident! She didn't even notice us as she approached the cage. "Greyson, do you know why you're here?" That was Greyson!

Bryan walked over to the cage standing right infront of it, his footsteps not even making a sound. Then he kicked the cage, his foot went through the cage, he sighed.

"It's a memory."

I sometimes wonder why my brother is so smart.

-Bryan-

Everything led to him, the snake, the strange room, the school incident, now a memory. So the only rational thing was to listen and try to piece things together.

He was the wolf, so instead of words I needed to analyze sounds.

Whinging he stared and the bottom of his cage, either embarrassment or sorrow.

"You're here because you lashed out yesterday before school started, and you know what would have happened if that was in public."

Lashed out huh? Like attack something…..or someone?

Another whine, then a silent nod.

The girl kneeled down, meeting Greyson's eye level which he met.

"Greyson, you're a shifter. You're lucky to go to a human school at all, I know you don't want to go to an unnatural school…but you'll be accepted and forgiven more easily if you lash out again."

He was silent, but I still had questions.

An Unnatural School, a school for the non-human, if he "lashes out" like the girl said, wouldn't it be safer for it to be in an unnatural school instead of ours? He also goes to our school. Interesting.

The conversation stopped then one, the girl walked away and Greyson was alone in the cage whining like a scold puppy.

My vision blurred and there was a new scene, it was the woods. The same path that me and Jasmine walked back from. I turned around to see Jassmine but she wasn't there anymore.

"She saw what she wanted to see"

There was a new voice, it was neither female or masline it was just a voice.

"What do you mean ' She saw what she wanted to see?'"

"She had a question, and she found an answer, Bryan."

How did it know my name? that was a question for another time. I needed to know what the situation was.

"Then what was my question that needed to be answered?"

There was a brief silence, then there was a noise. A banging noise, like a drum, there was running, animal cries and expolings.

What's Happening?! There were voices, so many voices I could only make out a few sentences.

"Kill the Snake!"

"End the Chaus!"

"This is the end of the unnatural races"

"Take out the children! The mothers will lose faith in the war!"

I was sick to my core, this was barbaric! Kill the children? Mothers lose faith in the war? All of this was telling me one thing, this was a human war, a war against the unnatural. One that never made it into history. Because nobody was supposed to know.

"Do you understand now Bryan"

A figure walked up to me, it was a snake.

"We are the chaos and I'm the Serpent."

I guess I finally know my question, why does it matter if I am unnatural?

It means I'll soon be the one the human race is trying to end.

Then Everything went to black.
