Chapter 5 Let it go

"Are you full? Now you should have a good rest." Daniel even thoughtfully cleaned up the leftovers.

Why was he behaving so nice today!

Chloe nodded several times in disbelief, "Mr. Bruce, you must be busy with your business. Feel free to go and don't worry about me."

Daniel took a meaningful look at Chloe and kept quiet for a long time.

Chloe was uneasy about Daniel's gaze. She was totally considerate to him but why did he look even unhappy?

"What are you waiting for, Mr. Bruce? You should go to work and don't let me bother you." Chloe urged him again feeling this tense vibe between them.

"Nothing. Just your needle... your blood is flowing backward." Daniel said calmly.

Ahhh!

Chloe had been scared of needles and blood since childhood. Looking at her swollen hand with a small bump, she screamed and then fainted.

As Chloe woke up again, it was so quiet in the room, with the needle correctly inserted in her vein.

She gently touched her hand and pitied herself, "I'm sorry, baby hand. You suffered so much."

"It's just swollen a little bit. Why do you become so timid?" There came a sudden sneer in the ward.

What! Daniel was still here?

Chloe looked up and saw Daniel sitting upright on the sofa opposite the bed, with a laptop and a pile of files in front of him.

Why was he still here?

Chloe was not used to this 'nice' Daniel. She paused for a long time before asking, "Why don't you go to your company?"

"I am a creditor and you are a debtor. As far as I know, you are a rash and impulsive girl, so I must stay to make sure that my debtor will not run away." Daniel answered naturally.

Chloe felt like dying. That damn debt of twenty-five million!

"Does anywhere else hurt?" Daniel got up and walked towards Chloe suddenly.

She was startled again, with her heart beating wildly.

"Well, you don't have to come this close... " Chloe whispered, "You are startling me. Remember? I'm rash and impulsive."

Daniel was speechless. She must be feeling really fine since she still knew how to retort.

Daniel returned to the sofa after confirming that there was nothing wrong with her.

For a while, there was only the keyboard tapping sound in the ward, while Chloe was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling without saying a word.

Surprisingly, she quite enjoyed this peace.

"Miss Johnson…Ah! Your blood is flowing back!"

Suddenly, the door was opened, and Nancy's fussy voice draw their attention.

Chloe was extremely nervous, lying stiffly and closing her eyes, "Where? I don't dare to see…I am afraid."

"You are still like a little child." Mr. Bruce came over and sighed.

Chloe felt like she was hallucinating because she sensed that Daniel was spoiling her instead of blaming her. Was he really the man she knew?

Then, what Nancy said completely woke her up.

"Miss Johnson, although you are young and lovely, as the daughter of the Johnson family, you should be calmer and don't make a scene. Or who will dare to marry you in the future?" Nancy spoke gently as if making a joke, but her words implied that Chloe was an arrogant and impolite person.

Chloe recalled that before her rebirth, Nancy used to imply to her that Daniel was so excellent and he needed an elegant and calm woman.

At that time, she truly bought these lies. Therefore she always felt that Daniel was out of her league. As a result, she tried hard to catch up with Daniel.

Gradually, she forgot that one loved the other not because of excellency.

Chloe hid the grudge in her eyes. It turned out that the war between them had already begun, but this time, she wouldn't lose again.

"Miss Brown, can I call you Nancy?"

Looking at Chloe's innocent eyes, Nancy smiled gently, "Of course you can."

"I always want a dear sister but don't have one. Can I treat you like my elder sister?" Chloe said in a friendly plea.

Nancy didn't mind at all. In this way, she might take this chance and get closer to Daniel. "No problem. Then I will treat you like my younger sister. I might be nagging and I hope you won't mind."

"Of course I won't." Chloe smiled wittily.

Daniel did accompany her in the hospital last night, and he even worked here especially for her during the day.

If Nancy was really on duty last night as she said, she must have known that. But instead, she said that Chloe stayed alone all night. So Chloe wanted to see what she was planning.

"By the way, Mr. Bruce, did you catch the man who hit me last night? What's going on?"

Clank!

Something was dropped on the ground suddenly.

Chloe pretended to be shocked, "Oh, Nancy, how come you dropped something? Did you get hurt? Will the hospital make you pay for it?"

Daniel also frowned but he said nothing.

Nancy tried to calm down and smiled, "It doesn't matter. I'm sorry to startle you."

Chloe carefully observed Nancy, but as Nancy was about to look back, Chloe immediately shifted her gaze.

Nancy glanced at Chloe and Daniel. The latter was expressionless and showed no care for her, which disappointed her slightly.

"Well, I am leaving now."

After Nancy left, it became quiet again in the ward.

Not long after, the door was pushed open.

"My dear gorgeous baby, you look so terrible. How poor!" The visitor was dressed in a hip-hop way, with heavy makeup, her eyes very charming.

When Chloe saw her, she exclaimed loudly.

"Oh my god. My dear Lisa!"

"Long time no see! I am coming." Lisa hugged Chloe excitedly.

"Be careful!" Chloe saw that Lisa wanted to hug her and she immediately reminded, but it was too late.

"Ah! My leg!"
