Chapter 25 Back to Work

His attitude was so rude that Chloe was about to retort. But seeing Lisa was shaking her head crazily, then Chloe thought to herself, 'Fine. Not a big deal. I can handle this.'

"I am sorry about being late. Please forgive me." Chloe said politely with a smile.

The man didn't give her a hard time, checking the expensive camera in his hand carefully.

"Are you Miss Chloe? Let's put on some makeup first." A woman in a black apron with all kinds of makeup tools came over and asked friendly.

Chloe followed her into the dressing room.

She appreciated Chloe for her fair skin, smiling, "Your skin is so smooth! And your face, already stunning without any makeup. I can see what an easy job for me."

Cheered up by the makeup artist, Chloe grinned happily, "Thank you. Please hurry up. I can see that the photographer seems unhappy."

Hearing this, the makeup artist explained, "His name is Evan Gerrard, the vice president of the Photography Association. He is so gifted in taking photos and enjoys fame in the magazine circle!"

No wonder he appeared so strict and even arrogant!

Suddenly, Chloe felt pressure and nodded anxiously.

Wearing the makeup and changing into the fashionable gowns as required, Chloe walked out and received a lot of compliments.

"Wow, she is so beautiful, isn't she!"

"She's born to be fabulous. I feel that our magazine is going to be a hit."

While the photographer, Evan, glanced coldly at Chloe. He had a bad impression of Chloe because she was late. So he was particularly critical about the following work.

Lisa stood aside, holding her breath and watching carefully, and prayed for her in secret.

Chloe might look carefree. But when it came to working, she was very professional. She followed Evan's instructions wholeheartedly and adjusted her poses for the best shooting angle.

She was so cooperative that Evan finished the shooting on time with ease. Later, Evan was picking the best photos on the computer.

After thinking for a while, Chloe walked over to him, "Do you like my work today?"

She wanted to know where she could do better.

Evan paused for a moment. He had to admit that among all the models he had worked with, Chloe was the most cooperative.

But still, she was late and he valued punctuality.

"Not bad. You can go to the accountant for your payment."

He knew that Chloe was recommended here to save the day by a colleague. But it didn't matter to him as long as he could complete the task and get what he wanted.

To be honest, even though he was pleased with these photos, he wasn't sure if the magazine would get popular. After all, no one knew her. She was basically nobody in the circle.

While Chloe was happy.

She got her payment from the accountant. It was the first time for her to make money on her own since she was reborn. She felt so thrilled as she held the cash and sniffed hard.

"Chloe, are you free tonight? Let's go to have dinner." Lisa took off her work badge and came over, holding Chloe's arm closely.

Thinking of that unreasonable Sasha at home, Chloe nodded at once, "Let's have a feast tonight!"

Then they went to a famous restaurant and ordered a lot of specialties on the menu. As foodies, they both showed much interest in delicacies.

"By the way, I remember you majored in Media at university. So what work are you interested?" Over dinner, Lisa started to chat with Chloe.

After thinking for a while, Chloe answered, "I want to be an actress."

Lisa looked her up and down with a meaningful look, and then she nodded affirmatively, "You will definitely make it!"

"Oh, how about your brother? How has he been recently?" Lisa asked in a casual tone.

But Chloe sensed something, narrowing her eyes and looking at her quietly.

Lisa felt nervous about her stare. She rubbed her hands and explained in a hurry, "Forget, forget it! I didn't ask anything and you heard nothing!"

"Kevin is in hospital. But don't worry. My mom is taking care of him." After a second thought, Chloe decided not to tell Lisa about the stalemate between her and Laura.

"What?" Lisa's face turned pale with fright. Her fork dropped down and fell on the floor.

"I…I'm sorry."

"You are weird. Do you like Kevin?" Chloe was asking but in fact, she already knew the answer.

Lisa felt a little embarrassed hearing her question. And she also felt guilty about hiding the secret from her best friend.

Lisa muttered, "I liked him at first sight at your sixteenth birthday party. But…he is so perfect, and he is way out of my league."

Lisa was born into an average family which could never compare to the Johnson family.

However, Chloe never looked down on her. They had got along well and later became best friends.

Chloe arched her eyebrow with a smile, "So? You want to be my sister-in-law in the future?"

Lisa glared at her, her face turning rosy, "Stop it. You are talking nonsense."

"VIP room seven, sixth floor, the Ocean Hospital. And you are welcome!"

Kevin's address!

"Oh, I love you, Chloe!"

Lisa hugged her excitedly at once.

They had such a feast that in the end, both of them were full, sitting in the chairs and not moving at all.

"Ah, I'm stuffed. I ate so much tonight. I am going to be fat!"

"Shut up now. Everyone knows that you have a slim shape." Said Chloe, asking the waiter for two cups of yogurt and handing one to Lisa. "Let's go out for a walk. I am too full."

After paying the bill, they took their time walking on the busy street.

"Chloe, I can see that you and Daniel are getting closer. But you just said you wanted to stay away from him not long ago. What's your plan?"

After a short pause, Chloe shook her head immediately, "I won't make the same mistake again."

Lisa thought Chloe only meant that she would stop loving Daniel. So Lisa shrugged, "My intuition tells me it's not going to be that simple."
