"What?" Chloe subconsciously dropped her spoon on the ground, unable to believe it.
While Daniel didn't explain further. At the same time, the hot tea was ready. So he took it from Helen, drinking it slowly and elegantly.
Oh! How could he look handsome even while he was just drinking tea? Chloe forced herself to withdraw her gaze and pick up the spoon.
But Helen didn't miss that. She thought they two could make such a lovely couple and it was just a matter of time before they got together in the end.
Feeling better, Daniel put the tea back and explained, "He is an asshole. I found some evidence about his raping under-aged girls. So I submitted it to the police."
What? Raping under-aged girls? Chloe felt so awful hearing it. "Jesus! He's such a bastard."
Helen was also shocked, "But he's so rich. Why should he commit such terrible crimes? He's so bad."
"It's alright. He's in prison now. As for his company, his wife's brother took his place and barely keeps it from going bankrupt."
After he was put in prison, nearly everyone wanted to gain something from it.
The good news for Daniel was that the Bruce Group obtained the land from Mr. Lee's father-in-law.
So Daniel just killed two birds with one stone. What's more, the management was very pleased with this outcome and thus respected him very much now.
But Chloe frowned while she was listening. She remembered that in her previous life, Mr. Lee did cause other trouble.
With his wealth and power, he might come out of prison soon. Once he was released, he must come at Daniel.
Although Chloe was worried, there wasn't much she could do. So she just kindly reminded, "Anyway, be careful and don't underestimate him."
Daniel had been dealing with cunning businessmen for many years and he had foreseen this as well. He had also learned to stay calm and cold under all circumstances.
Gradually, people around him tended to rely on him, instead of caring about him.
So when he heard Chloe's words, he, well, felt moved and warm slightly, which was so unfamiliar to him now.
"How is your leg?" Daniel asked, tilting his head to check on it.
"Better now," Chloe answered briefly. In fact, she was also reflecting on what she just said.
Why the hell did she do? Care about Daniel? He was much smarter than her and she was caring about him?
To defuse embarrassment, Chloe stood up and walked back and forth. "See? My leg is recovering very well. I even went out today."
"Where did you go?" Daniel looked at her with a smile in his eyes.
"To shoot…" She suddenly stopped and turned to him, "Why should I tell you? Well, it's late. I want to sleep now."
Then she left the kitchen.
While Daniel followed her after saying thank you to Helen.
In the living room, Sasha kept observing the kitchen in secret, eager to see what was going on there, yet fearing that Daniel would find her and kick her out.
After seeing Chloe come out alone, she felt so relieved, "Aha! I told you that he does not care about you! But you just can't wait to throw yourself on him. Don't make desperate efforts. He won't like you."
Chloe shook her head helplessly. Sasha just wouldn't leave her alone.
"It's none of your business." Chloe went to her room.
"Wait," Sasha turned off the TV and hurriedly stopped her, "You can't go to your room!"
"Like you said just now. It's my room. Why can't I go?" Chloe stopped anyway.
"Well," Sasha stretched out her arms to block her, her voice stern, "You put the dead mouse in my room. How do I know you won't do that again? And you are capable of doing worse. So I don't trust you."
That was so absurd.
Chloe had told her many times that she didn't do it. Now Sasha didn't believe it and even pushed her further.
"What? You put on this show yourself, and now you are blaming me for it? Sasha, am I being too polite to you?"
She had been restraining herself to avoid more head-on conflicts with Sasha. But clearly, instead of being grateful, Sasha took it as a sign that she could bully Chloe further.
Sasha held her head high and her voice was cold and righteous, "Who else could it be if it weren't you? How could I possibly put that dead mouse to scare myself to death? Are you stupid?"
"Then you can frame me up? You even called me stupid? Seriously? Do you have any idea what you just said?"
"Of course I do. I also said I despised you, so what? You have served the devil and now you don't admit it?" Sasha raised her hand, trying to hit Chloe, but she stopped at once as she saw Daniel walked over.
"Sasha, what are you doing?" Daniel was irritated, "Why did you raise your hand? I have been busy recently and now you are getting bold, right?"
Sasha trembled slightly, murmuring at once, "D…Daniel, I'm not, it's not…"
She didn't know if Daniel heard all her conversations with Chloe, but now she had to take risks.
"Daniel, listen to me. I can explain. I was afraid to sleep in my room, so I wanted to sleep in Chloe's room. But Chloe didn't agree and she was being so mean to me just now... "
Then she secretly took a glance at Daniel. But she couldn't tell from his face whether he believed her words or not.
Daniel walked over, standing before Chloe and trying to separate her from Sasha.
"Are you telling the truth?" Daniel asked again, his face expressionless.
Sasha hesitated, not sure if Daniel believed her or asked her again to test her. But she knew she couldn't chicken out now or she would lose his trust forever. So she took a breath and answered firmly. "I swear I'm telling the truth!"
Then, Sasha pointed at Chloe, adding, "Chloe was so mean to me just now. I really hope you saw her face. And then you will know I never lied to you."
Chloe looked at Sasha and even smiled, not surprised at all about her reaction.
"I have the guest room cleaned up today. Go to sleep now."
Daniel spoke and his words sounded so assertive that no one dared to disobey.
While Chloe and Sasha asked in unison with the same puzzled looks. "Who?"
