Gregory approaches me and the "Nuno" steps back right away. I can see the fear in their eyes as they look at my husband.
"Mary, you have to run, he's a vampire!" One of the "Nuno sa punso" informed me.
They are smaller than dwarves but bigger than fairies. Some urban legends say that they have supernatural powers and they are magical by nature.
"Don't be afraid, he's my husband!" I laughed with their ignorance.
"Really? You must be a vampire now!" The older Nuno concluded.
"Yes, I'm a newborn vampire. So don't worry, you know I wouldn't hurt anyone!" I explained.
They all look like they are thinking of considering what I just said. I'm talking to three Nunos right now. But I only know the eldest from the three of them.
When I was just eight years old, that same Nuno invited me for their feast. But before I could even go with him, an old lady stopped me. I wonder what could have happened back then?
"You should have been a Nuno before. But being a vampire also suits you!" The eldest Nuno said.
"Thanks! By the way, I didn't catch your name before." I reminded him.
"My name is Earl! These are Enzo and Eddie." Nuno introduced his friends as well.
"By the way, we just live nearby. So, don't be scared if you see vampires around." I told Earl.
"We don't usually go here, Mary. We know that it's the land of the Nunos and we respect their territory." Gregory informed her.
"Thank you for saying that, Duke Gregory! It means so much to us, you know!" Earl said.
"You're welcome! I just thought that you would love to see Mary again after a long time." Gregory told him.
"Yes, I did. I haven't seen her for ages. Look at her now! Such a beautiful vampire you have become." Earl complimented me.
"She's my wife now, Earl." Gregory reminded him.
I can't help but laugh at their exchange of words. It's entertaining to see how Gregory can be so jealous of a pint-sized guy. I honestly find it cute to see my husband acting that way. This side of him is just adorable!
"Well, thank you for visiting our land, Mary and Duke!" Earl mentioned.
"I guess we should get going now before your eyes pop out looking at my wife!" Gregory agreed.
"It was nice to see you again, Earl and friends!" I said my goodbyes to them.
"Just to let you know, if ever you need an ally, you already have the Nunos! Goodbye now, vampires!" Earl informed us before we teleported back to the cathedral.
When we finally came back, I looked at Gregory and I couldn't stop but giggled from what we just experienced back in those woods. I never thought that he's the jealous type. But I'm still grateful for bringing me to an old friend.
"What? Why are you giggling while looking at me like that?" Gregory asked.
"Nothing! It's just funny to see you jealous. I honestly didn't know you were the jealous type!" I informed him.
"No, I'm not! It's just Earl looking at you as if he's seeing stars from the sky." He explained.
"Of course, you're not jealous. Fine!' I agree sarcastically.
"Are you going to love me if I get jealous all the time?" Gregory asked.
His question caught me off guard. Somehow, he can feel that I'm not in love with him. But I'm not closing my doors to him. He's my husband after all!
"You just look so adorable when you're getting jealous with Earl!" I said to try to fix the awkwardness.
"Don't feel bad, Mary! I know that you're not in love with me, yet!" Gregory replied.
"Just give me some time, Greg," I told him.
"No rush, baby! I can wait!" He replied.
I never thought that we would end up talking about my feelings for him. But it's better now that it got off his chest. At least now we can understand each other better.
"That's your training for today. You can get some rest now!" Gregory dismissed me and left me alone.
I know that he feels bad for bringing up the L word to me. But that confirmed my feelings for him. Why do I suddenly feel guilty? I didn't even do anything wrong! I can't instantly fall in love with the guy who just showed up and made me his bride. We're not in a fairytale!
I decided to go upstairs to our bedroom so that I can rest. Today's training seems to be more of a trip. I wonder why Gregory would bring me to my old friend just to get jealous. But now that I think about it, maybe my special gift is to have allies from different creatures.
As I walked up the stairs, I think I saw Gregory talking to someone. I lean closer to the window to see who it is. They look like they are arguing about something. The other guy is wearing a black cloak. It's the wee hours of the morning and the dawn will come soon.
The guy in the cloak seems to feel me staring at them and looks up at me. I gasped when I realized that it was another old friend. That grim reaper is Angel! But he's using his true face now. The same one that made me avoid him before. I decided to go back to the stairs.
When I reach the bedroom, I immediately close the door. I wonder what Angel is doing here now? He already knows that I'm Gregory's wife by now. But what is doing here and why is talking to Greg? Something wrong might be happening and I need to know what!
I have so many questions and another one adds up. Why did Earl call Gregory duke? Being married to someone I don't know brought me to this situation. I've been seeing ghosts and other entities since childhood. Now, I'm living with a vampire.
