Chapter 27

Kalani's POV

My daughter was shot. Eawa was shot. Two bullets to the stomach, and one to the head. It felt like my world stopped. I could hear my heart beating at a distance, and Montero just kept shooting at Alina, but still, I couldn't wrap my head around it.

Everything was going in slow motion, and all the voices were in a distance. It didn't feel like I was there, but it felt like I was.

Eawa was shot.

The moment she was shot, all hell broke loose. People kept shooting, and others kept going down, but my mind was on my daughter. And no bullet was going to stop me from getting to her. But my heart stopped when she took one more step back, smiling at my one more time, as she fell into the river.

"Eawa noooo!" Montero screamed, running towards her, trying to reach for her. But she slipped on the very small grasp that were trying to pull. The moment she slipped, Montero followed her right after.
