Chapter 53: Myra, What’s bothering you ?

Myra's tears fell like rain and she didn't try to stop them.

As Leo returned to the group of officers, his friends Derrick, Eric, and Brian teased him about Myra's beauty.

"We had no idea she was so stunning," Derrick said, grinning.

" Indeed, She's more beautiful than Barbara.." Erich whispered.

" Who said it's about beauty ?" Leo asked them

but deep down, he was torn.

He had developed feelings for Myra on the island, but he was already in a relationship with Barbara.

To make matters worse he had lied to her about his true identity and now she was angry with him.

He didn't know if she would ever forgive him again.

Leo took his team to Michael's and Agnes' house, eager to express his gratitude for their help during his and Myra's stay on the island.

As they arrived, Michael and Agnes welcomed them with warm smiles.

" Who are these ?" Agnes asked calling her husband.

" This is my team.." He said with a smile.

" They were able to find me."

" Oh, We're so glad you're safe, Leo," Micheal spoke.

Leo thanked them sincerely, "We couldn't have made it without your help. You provided us with food, shelter, and comfort. We're forever grateful." Spoke Leo.

"Where's Myra? I haven't seen her since…" Leo's expression turned slightly awkward, and he hesitated for a moment before responding.

Just then, the door opened and Myra walked in, looking a bit subdued.

" I am here…," she said, her eyes scanning the room.

Agnes's face lit up with a warm smile as she rushed over to hug Myra.

"Oh, Myra, I'm so glad you're finally going back home." She smiled.

Myra smiled back, looking a bit more relaxed, and thanked Agnes and Michael for their help.

"I don't know what we would have done without you," she said, her voice sincere. Leo watched the exchange, feeling a pang of guilt and uncertainty about his feelings for Myra.

"Alright, everyone, let's get ready to leave. We've taken up enough of Michael and Agnes' time."

Myra, who had been quietly observing the conversation, suddenly spoke up.

"Wait, I want to thank you both again for everything you've done for us,"

she said, her eyes shining with gratitude.

"I promise to come back and visit soon, and I'll make sure to show my appreciation in a better way."

Michael and Agnes smiled, happy to have been able to help, and Agnes replied,

"You're always welcome here, Myra. We'll look forward to seeing you again soon."

As they said their goodbyes and headed out the door, Leo couldn't help but notice the way Myra's eyes sparkled when she smiled, and he felt a flutter in his chest.

He quickly pushed the feeling aside, reminding himself that she didn't want to face him again.

As Leo was lost in thought, staring at Myra, he felt a gentle tug on his hand.

He turned to see Barbara standing beside him, a smile on her face.

She had taken his hand in hers, and was looking up at him with a questioning expression.

"Hey, are you ready to sail back home?" she asked, her voice soft and gentle.

Leo felt a jolt of guilt, realizing that he had been staring at Myra for a moment too long.

He quickly looked away, trying to compose himself.

"Yeah, I'm ready," he replied, trying to sound casual.

Barbara's grip on his hand tightened, and she leaned in close to him.

"I'm glad we're finally going home," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I've missed our life together, and I'm looking forward to getting back to normal." She said.

Leo nodded, feeling a pang of unease. For now, he just smiled and nodded, trying to play it cool.

They got onto the boat together.

Myra also got onto the boat with her father's men and they bid the island people good bye as the boat begun to sail.

As the sail back to the city continued, the silence between them was palpable.

Barbara finally got up from her seat and walked over to where Myra stood at the bow of the boat.

"Hey, mind if I join you?" Barbara asked, her voice soft and gentle. Myra shook her head, and Barbara stood beside her, looking out at the sea.

After a moment of silence, Barbara broke the stillness, her voice filled with emotion.

"I guess it has been hard living with Leo for a few days " she said. "I know it couldn't have been easy." She said.

Myra turned to her, a look of surprise on her face. "It was nothing," Myra said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Barbara's eyes locked onto Myra's, her gaze piercing. "I was so worried. My boyfriend and Best friend away for long ," Barbara said, her voice soft.

"You don't have to worry anymore, Barbara," Myra said, her voice gentle. "We're here, we're safe. Everything is okay."

But as Myra spoke, Barbara noticed a flicker of guilt in her eyes. It was a fleeting moment, but Barbara caught it, and her curiosity was piqued.

"What's wrong, Myra?" Barbara asked, her voice low and concerned.

Myra's eyes dropped, and she looked away, her gaze drifting out to sea.

A tear escaped from her eyes but she rubbed it off immediately with her palm.

"Nothing's wrong," Myra said, her voice barely above a whisper. But Barbara knew that wasn't true. She could see the tension in Myra's body, the way her shoulders were stiff and her jaw was clenched.

"Don't lie to me, Myra," Barbara said, her voice firm but gentle. "I know something's bothering you. What is it?"

Myra took a deep breath, and then she turned back to Barbara, her eyes locked on hers.

"It's just...something happened on the island,"

Myra said, her words trailing.

"What happened on the island, Myra?" Barbara asked, her voice low and urgent.

Myra's eyes flashed up to hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.

Then, Myra's eyes dropped again, and she looked away, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I…I…" Myra said, her words hesitant.

Before she could talk one of her fathers men came forward.
