After the talk, Lucy got her phone and rung Wilson.
" Get for me Lisa.." She ordered.
——
On the floor, Lisa was seated at her desk, immersed in her sketches. Her pencil glided effortlessly across the paper as she worked on a new concept.
The sound of footsteps approaching made her glance up, and she was surprised to see Wilson.
"Wilson? What brings you here?" Lisa asked, setting her pencil down.
"Mrs. Andersons has requested to see you," Wilson said with a polite smile. "She's in her office and mentioned it's urgent."
Lisa tilted her head, her brows furrowing slightly. "Did she mention what it's about?"
"No, Miss Lisa, but she was insistent. I'd suggest heading up right away," Wilson replied.
Lisa nodded, her curiosity piqued. Lucy rarely summoned her directly unless it was for something significant.
—-
Lucy sat in her spacious office, her gaze fixed on the steam rising from her cup of coffee.
She took a slow sip, savoring the quiet moment as she remembered what Regina had just told her.
A soft knock interrupted her thoughts. "Come in," she called, her voice calm and measured.
The door opened to reveal Wilson, followed closely by Lisa. Lucy's sharp eyes immediately softened when they landed on Lisa.
"Ah, Lisa. Thank you for coming," Lucy said, setting her coffee cup down.
Lisa offered a polite smile, stepping inside. "Of course, Mrs. Andersons. Wilson said it was urgent."
Lucy nodded and then turned to Wilson. "That will be all, Wilson. Please close the door on your way out."
Wilson hesitated for only a moment before bowing slightly.
"Yes, ma'am,"
He said before exiting, shutting the door softly behind him.
The room fell into a momentary silence. Lisa shifted slightly, unsure of what to expect.
"Please, have a seat," Lucy said, gesturing to the chair across from her.
" Ms Lisa, I believe you saw the video too. If not, You heard the rumor and saw everything.." Lucy spoke as she took her coffee.
" Yes Ma'am." Lisa responded politely.
"Lisa," Lucy began, her voice low but sharp,
"I thought you were different. I thought you were wise enough, brave enough not to fall for someone like Canary."
Lisa frowned, confusion clouding her face. "Mrs. Andersons…I…"
Lucy cut her off. " You what ? I still can't believe it. I'm so disappointed in you."
" Mrs. Andersons," Lisa began cautiously,
"I won't deny it. My name was in that video." Her voice wavered but grew steadier with each word.
"But whatever they're saying… it's not what it looks like. Canary and I….what we have is real. We love each other."
Lucy let out a dry, humorless laugh, her voice echoing through the quiet room.
"Love?" she repeated mockingly. "Lisa, you're smarter than this. Do you even know who you're dealing with?"
Lisa frowned, her stomach sinking. "What do you mean?"
Lucy stepped closer, her expression sharp and unrelenting. "You think you're special? You think you're the only one Canary has whispered sweet nothings to? Let me enlighten you. Canary has a girlfriend a real girlfriend. Her name is Regina. And guess what? She's the same Regina from the video."
" Mrs. Andersons," Lisa said, her voice steady despite the turmoil in her chest.
"I know Regina. I know exactly who she is and she's not Canary's girlfriend."
Lucy arched a skeptical brow, her arms folding across her chest. "Oh? And what exactly is she, then?"
"She's his ex," Lisa said firmly. "They were together a long time ago, but it's over now. Whatever you've heard, whatever you think, there's nothing between them anymore. " She said.
Lucy let out a laughter once again. " Do you honestly think he's serious about you when he's still involved with her?" Lucy's words were sharp, designed to cut deep.
"Regina may still have feelings for him, but Canary doesn't feel the same. He's told me everything, Mrs. Andersons. I know about his past, about the mistakes he's made. But he's not that man anymore. He's changed."Said Lisa.
Lisa took a step closer, her voice firm and unwavering.
"You're wrong. I've seen a side of Canary that no one else has. He loves me, and I love him. I won't let you or anyone reduce what we have to some lie."
Lucy's smirk faded, replaced by a look of cautious disbelief. For a moment, silence hung between them, thick with tension. Then Lucy exhaled sharply, shaking her head.
"You're either the bravest woman I've ever met," she said quietly, "or the most foolish."
Lisa squared her shoulders, her determination unwavering. "I'll take my chances."
Lucy realized how determined Lisa was and then gave a sigh.
"Fine, If you're so sure Canary's innocent, then prove it." She demanded.
" Pardon.. ?" Lisa asked.
Lucy said sharply. "Find out who recorded that video and why. If you can show me the truth, I'll believe you. But until then, don't expect me to take your word for it."
Lisa nodded, her eyes resolute. "I will. I'll prove to you that what we have is real and that Canary isn't the man you think he is."
Lucy gave a small, doubtful smile. "Good luck, Lisa. You'll need it."
After that, Lisa walked out of Lucy's office thinking about everything they just talked about.
She went back to her desk and re watched the video.
Lisa replayed the video one last time, her heart pounding as her mind pieced together every detail.
Something wasn't right. The angles, the timing it felt too perfect, too staged.
She rose from her chair, grabbing her notepad, and headed straight for the control room.
The hum of machinery greeted her as she stepped inside, the faint glow of monitors illuminating the space.
"Excuse me," she said to the technician on duty. "I need access to the CCTV footage from the rooftop."
The technician frowned and shook his head. "The rooftop doesn't have cameras. It's a private area."
Lisa's brows furrowed. No cameras? Then how had they captured the footage? Her thoughts raced.
"What about the corridor leading to the rooftop?" she asked quickly.
The technician glanced at her, surprised. "The corridor? Yes, we have cameras there. What exactly are you looking for?"
Lisa forced a calm smile. "I just need to check who accessed the rooftop recently. Can you pull the footage for me?"
The technician hesitated but nodded, turning to the keyboard.
As the footage began to load, Lisa's heart thudded in her chest. If there was no camera on the rooftop, then the corridor footage might hold the key to uncovering the truth.
She watched closely as the footage from that Friday played.
The corridor outside the rooftop was quiet at first, with only a few staff members passing by.
She fast-forwarded until something caught her attention.
There she was—Regina.
Lisa's breath hitched as she watched the familiar figure walk confidently down the corridor toward the rooftop door.
Regina was dressed elegantly, her posture calm and deliberate. She disappeared through the door, and the footage resumed its stillness.
Lisa's pulse quickened as she rewound the tape, then let it play again, this time watching closely for anyone else.
A few minutes later, Canary appeared on the screen. He was walking briskly, his expression unreadable as he approached the same door and entered the rooftop.
Lisa froze. Her thoughts spiraled as she stared at the paused frame of Canary disappearing after Regina.
Lisa's heart pounded as she watched the footage unfold. After a few minutes, Canary emerged from the rooftop door, his stride purposeful but his expression unreadable. Lisa leaned closer to the screen, her mind racing.
Then, barely a minute later, Regina stepped out, but she wasn't alone. Another man followed behind her—a tall figure in a dark suit. Lisa's brows furrowed. Who was he? She didn't recognize him immediately, but something about the way he walked with Regina set her on edge.
Her curiosity piqued, Lisa rewound the footage, this time focusing on the corridor before Canary and Regina went to the rooftop. She scanned the screen carefully, her eyes darting between the timestamps.
And then she saw him. The same man in the dark suit.
He had entered the corridor long before Regina and Canary, heading to the rooftop alone.
Lisa replayed the moment, noting the time he stepped inside.
He remained there for several minutes, and only after Regina and Canary's conversation did he finally leave, trailing behind Regina as though nothing had happened.
Lisa's fingers tapped nervously on the desk as she pieced it together. He had been there the entire time.
" Do you know who he is?" Lisa asked, her voice tense.
The technician glanced at the screen, his expression puzzled.
"No, I've never seen him before. This is the first time I'm seeing him. He doesn't work here, as far as I know."
Lisa's mind raced. The fact that the technician didn't recognize him only made the situation more mysterious.
"Are you sure? Could he be one of the building staff or a guest?"
The technician shook his head. "I've been here for a while, and I've never seen him. Maybe he is…"
Lisa cut him off, already piecing it together. " Maybe a guest. Is it okay is I take a photo of this ?" Lisa asked.
" It's okay." Said the technician.
