Part 59; Good Morning Mr.Rivers

" It's okay.." Said the technician.

She quickly grabbed her phone from her desk, her fingers moving swiftly as she captured a clear shot of the man's face from the footage.

The phone camera's click felt oddly loud in the otherwise quiet control room.

She zoomed in on the image to make sure every detail was visible, the man's sharp features and dark suit now frozen on her phone screen.

As she saved the photo, she couldn't shake the feeling that this image might be the breakthrough she needed. If she could find out who he was, it could bring her one step closer to uncovering the truth.

"Thank you," Lisa murmured to the technician, who was still working on the entry logs, not noticing her focus on the photo.

She tucked her phone away, her mind already working overtime.

That evening, When Lucy returned home Canary had slept off already.

She decided to give him space and had dinner with Ketra and Joel.

For the following days, Regina and Joel enjoyed the privileges of Joel being the acting CEO of Andersons Group.

One evening, while they shared a drink in his office, Joel promised her the ultimate reward.

"Once I become President, the company will be yours to control," he said, confident in his plans. "You're far wiser than anyone else here."

Regina's eyes gleamed with ambition as she replied, "I'll make sure we hold onto everything we've gained."

Their partnership grew stronger, each move calculated to secure power, while Canary remained unaware of the full extent of their schemes.

Lisa spent the entire week trying to uncover the identity of the man in the black suit. She asked every employee she encountered if they had seen him before, but most shook their heads, offering no useful information.

It was Thursday evening, after four days of relentless searching, when she finally caught a break.

While passing by the maintenance area, she spotted an elderly janitor and decided to ask him as well.

" Have you even seen this man around ?" She asked showing David's photo on the phone.

The old man paused, his wrinkled face thoughtful. "The man in the black suit?" he repeated. "I've seen him before. He came in with Mr. Joel and Miss Regina one morning not too long ago."

Lisa's heart skipped a beat. "Are you sure about that?"

The old man nodded. "Positive. I saw him walk into Ms Regina's office ..."

" Oh, Thank you.."

Lisa thanked him, her mind racing. If the man was connected to Joel and Regina, this might be the lead she needed.

After that Lisa went back to the office and found Gladys getting her bag to leave.

" Lisa, Where have you been ?" Gladys asked.

" I just had some work to do. Let's go home.." Lisa said as she picked her bag as well.

As they walked hone, , Lisa turned to Gladys, her curiosity piqued.

"Do you know if there's any bad blood between Canary and Joel?" she asked.

Gladys thought for a moment before answering. "Well, it's said that Andersons Group was rebuilt using the wealth of the Rivers family,"

she explained. "So, it's possible Joel feels entitled to the company. Maybe he wants it back for himself as a Rivers."

Lisa frowned. "But isn't Lucy Joel's sister? Wouldn't she care about that?"

Gladys shrugged. "Lucy doesn't seem to mind what the Rivers family lost. Maybe that's why Joel feels he has to take matters into his own hands."

Lisa mulled over the revelation as they continued walking.

Joel's grudge, if true, might explain his recent actions and could be the key to understanding the conspiracy unfolding at Andersons Group.

' Could it be that Joel did this to get Canary out of the company?'

Lisa asked herself.

The following day, Lisa felt she must meet Joel.

She got some documents to went to his office with them. On reaching the door, at first she was scared but she felt her heart strong and knocked on the door.

" Come in.." Joel's voice said to her.

She opened the door and walked inside.

As she walked into Joel's office, he paused for a moment, a flicker of recognition crossing his face.

She seemed oddly familiar, though he couldn't place why.

Joel narrowed his eyes slightly, studying her.

" Good morning Mr.Rivers.." When she greeeter him he quickly dismissed the thought of her familiarity.

Probably nothing, he told himself, brushing off the strange feeling.

" Good morning Young lady, what can I do for you?" he asked casually, masking his momentary distraction.

Lisa, oblivious to his thoughts, presented the documents with her usual composure.

"Mr. Rivers," she began, placing the papers on his desk, "I need you to review this. It's important for the company."

Joel barely glanced at the documents before waving her off. "That's something Michael should handle. He's Canary's assistant, isn't he? Pass it to him."

Lisa didn't budge. "With all due respect, Mr. Rivers, you're the acting CEO. This requires your approval."

Joel studied her for a moment, then reluctantly picked up the papers. "Fine. Leave it. I will go through it." He said.

Lisa faked a polite smile as she handed over the documents.

"It's actually nice to finally meet you, Mr. Rivers," she said smoothly.

Joel returned the smile, though suspicion flickered in his eyes. "Nice to meet you too, What's your name ? " he asked.

" I'm Lisa, Sir.."

He leaned back in his chair. "Though I must admit, I'm curious what are you on about?"

She tilted her head, feigning casual interest. "Oh, nothing much. I just once heard about the great Rivers family. You know, the one that Andersons Group was built on. Fascinating history, isn't it?"

Joel's smile froze for a brief moment, but he quickly recovered. "Indeed," he said, his tone guarded. "The Rivers family has contributed significantly to Andersons Group."

Lisa studied his reaction carefully, pretending not to notice the sudden tension in his voice. "Well, I admire that kind of legacy,"

She said and added.
