Part 62; Where’s the original video ?

" Did you say that he just left ?" He asked again.

" Yes Sir.." The assistant responded.

Canary's eyes narrowed as he turned to the assistant. "How long ago did he leave?"

The assistant hesitated, glancing at Denis before answering. "Just a few minutes ago, sir. It's possible he's still in the parking lot."

Canary's pulse quickened. "Thank you," he muttered, already moving toward the door before Denis could say another word.

He rushed out of the building, his steps quickening as he neared the parking lot.

The air felt heavier with each stride, his instincts telling him something wasn't right. He had to find David before he disappeared for good.

As he turned the corner, he spotted the silhouette of a man slipping into a car, the engine roaring to life. Canary's heart skipped a beat when he recognized the figure it was David.

The moment their eyes locked, David's face tightened in panic, and without a second thought, he slammed his foot on the gas, the tires screeching as the car lurched forward.

Canary didn't hesitate. He sprinted toward his own car, cursing under his breath.

It was clear now David knew Canary was coming for him. But what was more troubling was the thought that David hadn't acted alone. The old man must have tipped him off.

As Canary sped down the road, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something much bigger. David was running.

Canary's car roared to life as he pursued David, his focus unyielding as the gap between them narrowed. His mind raced David was running, but what had he uncovered? He couldn't afford to let him escape again.

As David's car swerved around corners, he grabbed his phone from the passenger seat, his hands trembling slightly. With a quick press of the screen, he dialed Regina's number.

"Regina," David's voice was strained, panic seeping through his words. "It's David. Canary might have figured it out. He's chasing me right now. I don't know how much longer I can shake him off."

On the other end of the line, Regina's breath hitched. She had been expecting this moment, but hearing it spoken aloud sent a shock of fear through her. "What do you mean, figured it out?" she demanded. "What's going on, David?"

David's voice cracked as he spoke again, urgency bleeding through. "He knows, Regina. He's getting too close. I can't let him catch me. I'm not sure how much time we have, but he's coming for me."

Regina's heart pounded in her chest as she listened to the growing desperation in his voice.

"Stay calm, David. Get to a safe place, and we'll handle this," she said, though her mind was already racing.

She couldn't afford to let this slip now, not with so much on the line.

Hanging up the phone, Regina's panic set in. She had to act fast.

She sprinted out of the room, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she headed straight for Joel's office. Bursting through the door, her voice was breathless.

"Joel! We have a problem. David's in trouble. Canary's chasing him, and he knows something!"

Joel, who had been lounging at his desk, immediately straightened up, his demeanor shifting to one of cold calculation. "What are you saying, Regina?" he asked sharply. "What does Canary know?"

Regina's eyes were wide with alarm. " I think Canary's uncovered something. If David doesn't make it out of this, everything will come crashing down."

Joel stood up slowly, his expression darkening. " Give it a moment, Then we wait for plan B.." He said.

The roar of engines echoed through the empty stretch of highway as Canary's car closed in on David's.

The chase had been relentless, both men pushing their vehicles to the limit.

David's car swerved dangerously, trying to maintain the distance, but Canary wasn't letting up.

His focus was sharp, and with each passing second, the gap between them grew smaller.

Finally, David saw the headlights of Canary's car too close in his rearview mirror. His heart raced, and with a sharp twist of the wheel, he slammed the brakes, stopping just in time to avoid crashing into Canary's car.

The screech of tires against asphalt was deafening as the two vehicles came to a halt, only a few feet apart.

David's hands shook as he glanced nervously at Canary, who was already stepping out of his car with the intensity of a predator.

Before David could even react, Canary was there, his movements quick and forceful.

In one smooth motion, Canary grabbed David by the collar, yanking him out of the car with a surprising strength that left David gasping for air.

He stumbled as he was pulled from the driver's seat, his hands gripping Canary's wrists in a weak attempt to break free.

"Not so fast," Canary growled, his voice cold and menacing. His grip tightened on David's collar, lifting him off the ground just enough to make him feel the full weight of his anger.

David's breath hitched, panic flooding his veins. "Canary, wait—"

"Shut up," Canary interrupted, his voice low but full of authority. "You've been running long enough. Now it's time to talk."

David swallowed hard, his eyes darting around, but there was nowhere to run.

# The Confrontation

Canary had been searching for David everywhere, his mind consumed by the leaked video that had been spreading like wildfire on social media. He had to know who was behind it, and he had to know now. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he spotted David's car driving down the street. Without hesitation, Canary gave chase, his anger and frustration fueling his pursuit.

"Who told you to record that video?" Canary demanded, his voice low and menacing. His hands closed around David's throat, tightening like a vice.

"If you don't tell me, I'll strangle you right here, right now," he threatened, his face twisted with rage.

David's eyes widened in terror as he struggled to breathe.

He tried to speak, but his voice was barely a whisper. "P-please, Canary, don't hurt me," he stammered, his eyes pleading for mercy.

Canary's grip on David's throat tightened, his fingers digging deep into his throat.

Canary's eyes bore into David's as he processed the confession. His grip loosened, and he finally released David, who stumbled back, gasping for air, his trembling hands clutching at his chest.

"Joel and Regina," Canary muttered, his jaw tightening. The pieces of the puzzle were starting to come together. But he needed more. "Where's the original video?" he demanded, his tone sharp and unyielding. "I want to see it."

David hesitated, his eyes darting nervously to the side. "It's… it's in my apartment," he stammered. "I still have the original file. But I swear, I didn't do anything else with it!"

Canary's glare didn't waver. "Take me there," he ordered, his voice low and commanding. "Now."

David nodded quickly, his fear keeping him compliant. Without another word, he got back into his car, and Canary followed closely behind in his. The tension in the air was palpable as they drove through the city, David's mind racing with thoughts of what Joel and Regina would do if they found out he had cracked under pressure.

They arrived at a modest apartment complex on the outskirts of the city. David parked hastily and stepped out, glancing nervously at Canary, who was already standing beside him, his arms crossed and his expression unreadable.

"This way," David mumbled, leading him up a flight of stairs to his unit.

His hands shook as he fumbled with the keys, finally pushing the door open. The small apartment was cluttered, papers and electronics scattered across the living room.

David moved quickly to his desk, where a laptop sat amidst the chaos. He opened it, his fingers trembling as he navigated through the files. "It's here," he said, pulling up a folder labeled Projects. Inside was a single file titled Original_Video.mp4.

"There," he said, stepping back to let Canary see. "That's the unedited version."

Canary leaned forward, his eyes fixed on the screen. "Play it," he ordered.

David hesitated for a moment, then clicked on the file.

The video began to play, revealing the raw footage. Canary watched in silence, his sharp eyes catching the inconsistencies that had been edited out. It was clear now—Joel and Regina had manipulated this to serve their own agenda.

When the video ended, Canary turned to David, his expression cold but calm.

"You've done one thing right by showing me this. Now, you're going to help me make sure Joel and Regina pay for what they've done."

David nodded weakly, knowing he had no other choice.
