Reawenkening

"Where am I?" Roland wondered. The entire world around him was white. Suddenly, he started to see splotches of color, before the world reappeared and he could see again.

He could see the snow reflecting the light and the strange but familiar mountain peak. It was now snowing a bit, and he could see there might be a blizzard soon. He rolled around, moving his body again. Then, he thought of the message he got before he had fainted.

'Mana Conducting Rock?'

A bit confused, he used his spirit sense again and looked at himself. His heart skipped a beat. Now, there were a few thin, blue lines covering the surface of the rock, glowing in blue color. The light was a bit pale, but it was definitely there. He could see the mana, trapped inside tiny vein-like structures.

Since it was called mana conducting rock, his skills should work a lot better, right? From the name of the material, his body worked better with mana in some sort of way. Returning his spirit to his body, he tried to use a wind blade. Normally, this skill would take about a second to charge up, so he was curious as to how much faster it would be. The moment he used the skill, he froze. Instantly, a giant ball of mana had already appeared. It looked even larger than before, the wind attracting the snow towards it due to how fast it was spinning. It formed a vortex that sucked things in the area into the center of the vortex.

Suddenly, he noticed that something about the wind had changed. Now that it had absorbed the snow, It emanated a cold aura, and he could see snowflakes moving in the wind. It was emanating a pale blue. Curiously, he tried to turn it into a wind blade.

"Whoosh!"

The wind blade formed, but it had definitely changed. The blades had turned a bright teal, and frost was covering the entirety of its surface. Inside, he could see shards of ice suspended by the wind. Testing how it worked, Roland threw it at a nearby tree.

"Crack!"

Roland walked up to the fragments of the tree. The hardwood had frosted over, and the entire piece of wood was frozen. The blade had directly shattered the tree, breaking it apart. The pieces lay on the ground, each and every single one covered in ice.

'This could be useful!' Not only was the power of his wind blade higher, but it seemed that in a cold environment, the effect became a lot better. All of this was due to one change in the material that made up his body.

"Ding!"

[New Skill Created]

[Would you like to name the skill?]

[Yes] [No]

'That's interesting' He thought as he clicked on the yes button. The skill was probably the powered-up wind blade he just used. This also told him something else. Not only could he obtain skills from achievements and the shop, but he could also get them from doing a specific action.

[What would you like to name the skill]

He thought for a moment, before replying.

'Ice Blade.' Roland decided he would keep it simple. The names for the skills didn't need to be too complicated or complex, they just needed to show what the skill did. Since it was just a wind blade that was partly made of ice, that's what he decided to call the skill.

[Ice Blade Added to your Skill List]

[Ice Blade]

[A blade of cold, icy wind. Sharp chunks of ice are encased inside, and this skill has a chance to freeze the opponent. Effectiveness is reduced by half in high temperatures and doubled in low temperatures.]

Nodding, he read the description for the skill. It would probably be a lot faster than if he just used a wind blade. Besides, if he wanted to make an ice blade, he needed to be in a cold area. With this new skill, it would be a lot simpler, even though he couldn't go anywhere too hot. Not only that, the effectiveness would increase the colder it was. Now that he thought of it, Roland wondered if it was possible to make something like a fire blade. If he was in a hot area and put the wind blade in a fire, it might work.

Putting the idea aside for now, he tried to use the skill. Turning on his spirit sense to get a better view, he looked at its effects. A small ball of ice and wind spun in his hands. Its form wobbled, and it looked like it would fall apart at any moment.

The ice blade hadn't leveled up yet, unlike Wind Blade. Although it was a good deal harder to use currently, he knew he would get better at it eventually.

Looking at the scattered tree fragments on the ground, he decided to make it his top priority to train this skill. This would be his best bet at defeating the two creatures in that cave.

'Oh, wait!' Roland had nearly forgotten something.

It was time to see how he would fare against the two creatures in the cave. Just as he tried to get himself out of the snow, he heard the sound of someone walking. He listened closely. Three pairs of footsteps went in his direction. The steps were uneven, with different intervals between each sound.

'Zombies?' He thought, a bit nervous, but he pushed the image of the undead out of his mind. However, the image. kept returning, haunting his mind. It was a fantasy world... for what he knew, zombies might actually exist here. Hiding deeper in the snow, so that he was completely covered in it, he brought his spirit out of his body and looked in the direction of the footsteps.

He could see three figures walking towards him. Their footsteps made a crunching sound as they compressed the snow. Roland looked at them strangely. One of them wore an oversized green coat with a bright badge pinned to it, another had bright orange hair that formed a stark contrast between the surroundings, and the last wielded two swords, both gleaming in the sunlight, looking both sharp and vicious.

Of course, they were Aaron, Autumn, and Faloan, but Roland didn't know that. Roland sighed in relief. At least it wasn't zombies. Then, he looked more closely at the three people. They were all pretty badly injured. There were cuts along their arms and legs, and a bruise could be found on the head of the orange-haired one. They were all walking unsteadily towards him.

He frowned. A blizzard was starting, and he could see that the three knew that. They were heading for a nearby cave in the mountainside. Knowing they could be safe, he looked at the dark clouds above and shuddered. He should problem find some shelter as well. Suddenly, he stopped.

'Where were those three headed to?' He turned, just in time to see them walking into a cave, with large stalactites that looked like giant teeth. The cave! That was the one with those two creatures inside! He quickly used identify on the people just before they went inside.

The frown on his face deepened. Although they were stronger than him, their injuries would slow them down if they fought against those creatures in the cave. Besides, those creatures in the cave were probably still stronger than them. After a moment of hesitation, he chased after them.

If he saw them here and just let them die, would he even be human by then? If he could help someone, he would, it was just the right thing to do. With that, he rolled towards the cave.
