A few minutes later Ty was walking down the passage when two nurses stop him. "Doctor Jackson." One said in a solemn tone. "What's wrong?" He asks his hair on the back of his neck was tingling, something wasn't right. "We're sorry but your nephew didn't make it." One of them said sadly. "What?" He asks as his mind went numb.
"Your brother's baby, he didn't make it, her baby was stillborn." One said her head down. "No, God no, how? I don't understand." He said as pain surges through him. "We're not sure, she went into labor early, and the doctors rushed her into emergency surgery but it was too late, they couldn't save the baby. He's in there with her, we're sorry but you won't be able to go in right now." The other one said patting his shoulder.
"No, no no no no, this can't be happening, not now, not after what he just went through with Maya," Ty said tears running down his face as he took out his phone. He was about to call his dad when he saw his dad and mom coming down the passage.
He run towards them and in a trembling voice told them what had happened. His dad then pats him on the shoulder before walking away from them. The two nurses tried to stop his dad from entering the room but he had long since learned that his father was a force of nature that was not to be messed with, especially when it comes to his children.
An hour later Caleb came out of the room and practically run outside, where he bends down, place his hands on his knees, and took a deep shuddering breath. Ty also took a deep breath before approaching him. What could he possibly say to his brother right now to ease his pain? Nothing, no words were capable of doing that, not now and maybe not for a very long time to come.
So without saying anything, he just went and stood beside him. "This is all my fault, I took my daughter's mother away from her and now God has taken my son away from me. Karma is a bitch, isn't it?" He snorts.
"I mean don't get me wrong, I knew I was going to pay for what I did to Maya, I just didn't expect to pay this way, not with my son's life." He sobs. "Can't say I don't deserve it though, but Shania, no, she didn't deserve this." He sobs his hands gripping the railing.
"God took my 6 lb-4 ounce precious baby boy from me." He groans and grabs the left side of his chest. "The scariest thing about all this is that God is capable of taking all my children away from me and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it." He groans again.
"This is not your fault brother," Ty said softly. "Like hell, it isn't," Caleb growls, his fingers tightening around the railing. "Whose fault is it then huh? Whose fault is it that Shania is in that room right now beside herself with grief because our son is dead?" he asks angrily.
"Is it the doctors, they said they did all they could to save our son but it wasn't enough, he's still dead! Whose fault is it Ty? Tell me!" "No one brother," Ty said softly. "Yeah, no one, no one but myself. You know, Maya's mother said that I was going to suffer, so yeah, I guess I had this coming." He said standing straight and sucking air in his lungs.
"I'm sorry brother," Ty said his hand on Caleb's shoulder. "Yeah so am I brother.
I'm sorry for pursuing Maya
I'm sorry for seducing her
I'm sorry for getting her pregnant,
I'm sorry for giving Mom and Dad the impression that I was ready to get married.
I'm sorry for making all those promises to Maya that I had no intention of keeping.
I'm sorry I didn't try harder to be a better husband to her.
I'm sorry I took Alan's advice.
I'm sorry I hurt her and caused her death. Do you know what makes me brother?" Caleb asks in a cold shuddering tone. "What?" Ty whispers. "One sorry mother fucking asshole." He said and walk back towards the room.
