Awakening

The incident like him falling conscious never happened again but Nicholas sometimes would have a weird dream about a person who looked just like him. But after he wakes up and wanted to tell his parents about it, he forgets what he wanted to say.

Time continued to pass. Nicolas was now able to use sword more properly under the guidance of his father. He also came to know about cities and kingdoms

He found that the Silverfield village they live in is in the Stardragon kingdom. The kingdom is quite small and have few resources so other kingdoms don't attack on it. Also there aren't many monsters in the kingdom. As a result the kingdom is very peaceful. The current king is also a kind person. Due to his policies common people don't suffer much as compared to that of other kingdoms.

Nicholas sometimes wondered what cities looked like. But this was only his thought. He never wanted to go there. From his father he came to know that the people in the cities are heartless. Completely opposite of the people in the village.

He just wanted to stay in the village forever. The people here are very kind, they help each other in difficulties. Morever his parents are also here. He never wanted to leave them.

Time continued to pass. Nicholas was soon going to be of ten years old. The weird dreams he was getting at night these days also increased. Previosly he would have that type of dream thrice within a month but now he have them twice within a week.

After a certain dream he stopped having them. But it was also from this certain dream Nicholas found about his previous life. Even though they were fragments, he was able to find out who he was and why he died...

Upon finding about his previous life he felt sad. Even more so after thinking about the reason of his death. Looking at the actions he did in his previous life and the its consequences, Nicholas made up his mind. He had decided to life a normal life this time.

He dosen't want to live a same life filled with schemes, betrayels, deaths, griefs like before. He wants to live a simple life this time. And then die of old age with less regrets.

"Maybe I got a new life so I can live happily this time?"

The just risen sun shone softly on the streets bringing with it a flurry of activities. A horse galloped towards the Whitebell town carrying two people on it.

They were Ethan and Nicholas. They were going for the Adventurers' Association in the Whitebell town for Nicholas' awakening.

When a children became a ten year old, he could be awakened using an awakening stone. After awakening a person will get a random class. If a person wants a particular class he can use some rare treasures which can increase the chances of him getting the class he wants.

After awakening a person also gets a 'system'. This system tells an adventurer about his level, class, skills etc. and also gives him quests and tasks which has to be completed to reach higher levels.

As Nicholas is now ten years old so he is eligible for awakening. Actually Nicholas is the only one from the children of his age in the village who is going to awaken.

This is due to fees the association charges to awaken someone, ten silver coins. It is a lot of money for anyone in the village. Even Ethan had to again be an adventurer and do quests to collect this much money even though he was saving money from quite some time.

Besides the people in the village have no interest in becoming an adventurer. According to them after becoming an adventurer they had to kill monsters and put their lives on the line. And here instead, just through farming they can earn enough to fill their stomaches and there won't be any risk to their life.

Nicholas had same thoughts too as he wanted to live a simple life but Ethan was adamant saying that if he didn't want to become a adventurer, he should just increase his level to five after getting a class so that he can have enough strength to protect himself and others infront of a danger.

Nicholas could only give up after seeing that even Hannah has sided with Ethan.

So here they were now, in front of the adventurers' association. After informing the receptionst that they are here for awakening and paying ten silver coins, a perosn led the duo in another room.

There was a big sphere floating just a little above the ground, radiating different colours. An old man was sitting on a chair reading a book. Seeing the duo he asked Nicholas to come forward and touch the sphere.

Nicholas put his hand on the sphere which stopped radiating colors and started to shine white and he, according to the old man's instructions, closed his eyes and tried to concentrate.

Time passed but nothing happened.

"Don't be anxious. First calm yourself." The old man said thinking that Nicholas isn't able to connect with the awakening orb due to his nervousness. But Nicholas isn't least bit nervous, he is seriously trying to concentrate but he felt no change.

Ten minutes passed. At that moment the old man told Nicholas to stop, saying that he had failed in awakening.

Although rare, there are some cases in which a person fails to awaken. Such a person can only remain a normal person.

The same happened to Nicholas. But this is also because the grade of this awakening stone is low. If he uses a high grade awakening stone then he is gurranted to awaken. Unfortunately they don't knew about it. And such high grade stones are in the hands of nobles amd rich people in the kingdom.

Nicholas gave a sad sigh thinking about the money that got wasted. He knew that ten silver coins is a large amount. They had to face many difficulties to collect it but it all led to waste.

But he soon composed himself.

He comforted his worried parents saying that none of the villagers here are awakened but they still live a good life. Besides he can use sword skillfully so he should be able to protect himself in case of any danger.
