chapter 19

"Hey.. what's wrong, guys? You're all teary. "

"It's.. It's about, Sara." His brother, Dylan whispered.

Stefan was staring at him, eyes wide as silent tears streamed down his cheeks. He doesn't know why he's crying. His lips formed a hard line and he stood up to a sitting position slowly with Minho's help. Dylan took a deep breath in and remind his younger brother that he can grieved and he can take his time but he's not allowed to pretend everything is fine.

"Is she here? Outside? Can you get Sara for me. I need Sara now. Please!" His voice was rising with panic.

"She's not here. I mean.. she's not with us anymore." Dylan said as he handed the depressed male a small transparent bag that simply read, *Items belongs to Sara and Hanie*

"This is for you. I'm so sorry, Stefan."

Stefan looked down at the sealed bag in his hand and frowned, studying the written name printed on it. "What's the meaning of all this?" What exactly is going on? First, I was told Tiffany donated her heart to me, and then, Sara and my child is not present." He started panicking but he needed to calm himself.

"Tiffany, Hailey, Sara and Hanie have been involved in an accident." Minho who is standing next to him spoke so softly, barely a whisper. It felt as if everything happened in slow motion because it wasn't easy for him to relayed the message.

The night before, Sara with a heavy heart leaving Stefan by himself. Stefan wishes for Sara to stay by his side but he does not want to be selfish. Seeing his love and his child sleeping uncomfortably on the couch, aches his heart.

So, they both reluctantly did let go of each other that night. However, little did they know, those few precious seconds of looking at each other eyes before parting would be their last.

No one predicted this scenario, the following morning.

"Hey, my princess." Sara called out to her child, kneeling down next to her before brushing her hair out of her face. "Let's go bath?"

Hanie shook her head defiantly. "But mama, Disney is not over yet." She whined.

"What if we stop it now, you take a bath and later you can watch with daddy?"

Hanie nodded still looking at the screen. Sara walked into the bathroom and turning the warm water on, not forgetting to pour in Hanie's favorite bubble bath scented of gentle sweet orange and vanilla. When she's done, she returns to the living room to get her daughter. "Come on princess, bath time, baby." Sara taking the remote putting the DVD to a halt and picked up her girl.

Minutes later, after dressing up Hanie in fancy snow-white costume, Sara left the room and she saw a petite figure were standing outside the door. She didn't get a view so she went forward to greet whoever is waiting. Her heart almost drops when she saw her again.

"Tiffany?" She stutters. She can't help but felt a little surprised and confused.

Tiffany, long blonde hair but more disheveled than usual. She looked terrible, her eyes bloodshot like she hasn't slept in days, tears threatening to spill. But she was the most beautiful woman Sara had ever seen though. She's the woman who had save Stefan's life too by donating her liver.

"If you came to talk about Stefan, then please leave."

"No." Tiffany cuts Sara conversation. "Listen. I really made a mess of things this time, haven't I? Regardless of my intentions, please forgive me. I'm even willing to sacrifice my heart for Stefan's heart transplant in order to fix my mistakes!"

She was apologizing to her. She's sorry for accusing, she's sorry for interrupting their relationship. They're both was in tears. Both remained there with a long silence until Hanie appears with Minnie mouse dress. Sara quickly wipes her tears with her sleeves and look at her girl. She changed the outfit herself, my good girl and daddy's precious girl.

"Sara, I know how much he loves you. I'm sorry for ruining everything." She said coming nearer to Sara a little closer and wrapped her arms around Sara, in which Sara returns the gesture by hugging back tightly and her breath hitched in her throat.

She pulled back and cupped her cheeks, "Let's go and visit Stefan together, shall we? He's waiting for us."

"You forgive me?" Tiffany apparently shocked by Sara pure reaction. Forgiving her after everything.

She just smiled and reaching out her right hand to gently caress Tiffany's shoulder. "You save Stefan before so, I am very thankful to you for that. Really."

"Stefan must have done a good deed in the past, he really deserves you, Sara. You forgive me just like that. You're kind-hearted."

Everything happens in a flash after that. One minute ago, Tiffany was driving towards the busy road to the hospital because they received a call saying that Stefan had went flatline. Sara at the front seat is terribly shaking and already feels her world ending, as if her heart rhythm stops beating.

Hailey who arrives minutes later went together for the ride. She and Hanie slid into the backseat. She didn't say much. The girl was pouting and holding koya and tata plushies close to her chest all the way since from home, she was clueless of what's going on. It seemed like a dream, well in this case a nightmare. Suddenly there was a sudden bang and the sound of metal to metal, then darkness.

Hours later, Hailey started to wake up, her eyes not focusing but she felt someone sat on the bed and hold her hand.

"Hailey, darling?" She felt them touch her forehead. "Hey, come on look at me, babe." Minho smiled down at her when her eyes finally fell on his.

She closed her eyes, returning to the memories of screaming sounds and then opened them again. Her eyes which once were bright, were pale and dull now, as if running out of color. She tried lifting herself up, before breaking into a fit of coughing.

"Don't strain yourself, please." Minho said disapprovingly, a look of concern in his eyes. He gently pushed Hailey back onto the bed, leaving her no choice but to lay down.

"Where am I..? What happen?" Hailey had six stitches to the cut on her forehead and three stitches on her left ankle. Slightly cracked lips, her right wrist is broken, she has several bruised ribs, other than that, she's okay.

"You're in hospital." Minho rubbed her palm gently. He watched her turned even more paler than she was already.

"Sara? Hanie?! How are they right now? I need to see them." She struggled, gripping Minho's arm with all the strength she could muster. She breathed heavily, straining to get up again, trickles of sweat racing down her forehead as she waited for answers.

"Hailey, darling. Listen. Sara, she.. She didn't make it." He immediately leaned down and kissed her forehead. Hailey felt like her breath was sucked out by demons. It's too painful. Her chest hurts as her grips tightens on Minho's grey sweater.

"Baby, we lost her half hour ago, she suffers serious injury that causing major blood loss."

"Hanie has a severe concussion and she's unlikely to make it, we're told to let her go. She suffered enough, if we held onto her, we will only add more pain to her. By letting her go, at least she will be with her mama." He choked on his sobs, he couldn't control himself.

As for Tiffany, her injuries pretty severe. They cannot say how badly brain damaged she is till she wakes from her coma. Worst case scenarios, she won't be able to do anything for herself and will need permanent care for the rest of her life, or she simply won't wake at all.

But her heart still functioning well. Her father came looking distraught in a wheelchair. He then decided as he signed the consent form of allowing her daughter organ to be donated.

They loved Sara and Hanie very much. So much that it hurts. No one had seen it coming and the news hits everyone hard, leaving them devastated. It came without warning, they're now curled in a fetal position as if being in the middle of the ocean and being pulled by the tides.

As they are speaking, nurses came into the room to informed them the procedure of Stefan's heart transplant operation is successfully done and he's in intensive care unit before being able to be transferred to general ward.

At the moment they just had to prayed and to wait for Stefan to be awaken because they would have to tell him about everything that happened and they had no idea how the male was going to handle it. They feel like the entire universe is falling apart just by waiting.
