Chapter 22

The snipers are still in shooting positions though the car had stopped. The members of Epsilon and Maximus encircled the car still pointing their guns to it.

The men inside the car were perspiring profusely. They didn't expect that the people around them were the finest. They slowly open the car's doors with their hands raised to show that they were surrendering.

The police officers hurriedly approached the criminals and handcuffed them but they were having a hard time on the leader because he's moving.

Epsilon and Maximus started walking towards their rides. Drew was already in her bike when suddenly Chase blocked her and a gun fire was heard.

The leader of the carnapping syndicate was able to snatch the police officer's gun who was trying to put handcuffs on him but failed. He pointed his gun on Drew but Chase saw it and made his immediate move.

Chase moved quickly and embraced Drew. He got his pistol and pointed it to the leader and "bang!". The leader fell on the floor holding his knee.

All the people were flabbergasted on the quick turn of events. The police officers handcuffed the man who was crying of pain because of the gunshot.

Epsilon and Maximus' members moved towards Chase and Drew.

"Are you okay?" Chase asked. Drew nodded.

"Chase, you're bleeding!" Dylan said shocked on the blood that was on his shoulders. Drew was shocked too and without thinking about herself, she removed her mask and looked at Chase's shoulders.

Chase covered her face by putting her on his chest.

"You're really stupid! The criminals are still here! Why did you remove your mask?" Chase angrily said.

"I was...I..." Drew was stuttering because she really forgot their SOP. She was worried of Chase's gunshot and forgot about her safety.

Their military mask should not be remove until the whole mission is already done or until the criminals were out of sight. It's their SOP, to protect their identity.

The people around them were smiling even though they were worried about Chase.

Drew immediately wore again her mask and guided Chase on the ARV. Her bike and Chase's bike were driven by Chandler and Barry. The motorbikes followed the ARV going to City L's military hospital.

"Amira, proceed to City L's military hospital now!" Drew said on the phone.

"Why?" Amira asked.

"Chase was hurt." Drew said.

"What!? Okay, I'll be there in fifteen minutes." Amira said.

"Make it five!" Drew said and ended the call.

Amira was stunned. "How can I be there in five minutes!?" Amira said looking at her phone.

"What is it?" Frank asked.

"Oh Uncle Henry, we need to go City L's hospital. Chase was hurt." Amira said that made Henry stood up from his seat.

"How can it be?" Henry asked with a worried tone.

"I don't know Uncle but Drew wanted me to be there in five minutes." Amira said.

"We can use the helicopter." Frank said and the three of them proceeded to the helipad.

"Let's remove your vest so I can see your wound." Drew said.

Spencer helped Drew and when they already removed the vest, the bullet fell. Drew sighed and was relieved because there was an entry and exit point of the bullet. They will not be thinking of where the bullet go after it hit Chase's shoulders. She disinfected and treated the wound before covering it with a gauze. She injected Chase with a pain reliever and a medicine that stops bleeding.

"Thank you." Chase said.

"I should be the one thanking you." Drew said.

"You could give me a kiss if you want to." Chase said with a devilish smile.

Drew punched Chase forgetting his wound. Chase winced of pain.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Drew said stoking Chase's chest.

"If I were you, I will not do that." Chase said with a meaningful glare.

"Pervert!" Drew said that made the rest in the AVR laughed.

When they arrived at City L's hospital, Amira was already there, together with Frank and Henry.

"What happened?" Henry asked looking at his son.

"He save me, Uncle." Drew said with a low voice. Henry smiled.

"That's okay, dear. This son of mine is a bulletproof man." Henry said patting Drew's shoulders.

Because their masks were already removed, upon entering the hospital, all the staffs and crews were excitedly waiting for their arrival. They were able to watch on how this men and women successfully accomplished their mission. And just like the others before, they were drooling particularly on Drew and Chase.

Chase was brought inside the Emergency Room with only Amira inside.

"Let me see." Amira said.

"Hhhmmm, there's an entry and an exit point. Where's the slug?" Amira asked.

"Drew got it but I don't know where did she put it." Chase answered.

"I'll just asked her later. For now, let's do an X-ray to see if it damage your tissues and bones." Amira said and Chase nodded.

"Amira, can I talk to you for a bit." Chase said and Amira nodded.

"Good job, all of you." Frank said to Epsilon and Maximus members.

"Thank you, Sir!" All of them spoke at once.

"You may go home now. We'll be here to be with Chase. I know you're all tired not just because of the mission but also your training." Frank said.

"I will stay here, Sir!" Drew said.

"I think you better go home and change. Look at yourself." Frank said. Drew followed his dad and she sighed. There was blood on her gear.

"Let's go home first, then we can comeback later." Dylan said looking at Drew and the latter nodded.

"No need to comeback. The patient requested to be transfer to City C's hospital." Amira said pushing Chase's wheelchair from the Emergency Room.

"Luckily, the bullet didn't hit any vein according to his X-ray. He only need to rest in the hospital for few days. I already put a cast on him to prevent him from moving. The patient also requested to be under the care of the one he saved." Amira looked at Drew with a teasing smile. All the rest looked at Drew with meaningful smiles.

"Me!?" Drew asked pointing herself.

"But why? You can be in the hospital with a private nurse or with Auntie Mildred. Or we can do shifts." Drew said looking at her team that made her team looked at different directions. Frank and Henry smiled.

"Your Auntie Mildred will be busy preparing for her birthday. Epsilon and Maximus will continue their training with Maddog and Bravo on the lead. Besides, who was saved by Chase?" Frank said continuously.

"But, Dad!" Drew said still against the idea.

"You will take care of Chase until he fully recover. And that's an order!" Frank said seriously but he really wanted to laugh on his daughters reaction.

Amira made an OK sign to Chase and the latter smiled brightly. The rest smiled too because they knew that Chase planned it.

Drew sighed. She was saved by Chase and she knew she had to take care of him but she had a feeling that there's a consensus between the people around her.

"Ehem, ehem." Chase cleared his throat.

"Let's go, my private nurse. I want to take my rest." Chase said holding his wound.

Drew rolled her eyes but walked behind Chase's wheelchair and pushed towards the ARV.

"Easy, I'm wounded. Can't you be more tender towards an injured man?" Chase said with a wicked smile.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Boss. I will be careful next time." Drew said with annoyance in her voice. Chase smiled triumphantly.
