Nightmares begin

Lisa's POV

I woke up with a split headache,the ones I usually get after having a nightmare. It's quite annoying though having the most ridiculous dreams whenever I sleep.

I shut my eyes tight trying to understand what I saw in my dreams.

I had dreamt that a dark cloud hovered over my college and vampires took over the school. I laughed at myself. I have an habit of dreaming such nonsense since I turned a teenager.

Mom said dreams were real but I knew otherwise. Dreams are just the subconsciousness of the mind total nonsense of what you think during the day.

I heard the alarm tick and I hissed in frustration. I had momentarily forgot I had school. Oh yes I was in college and in my second year and till now I haven't come to like it that much.

It was all stress and no fun for me maybe because I was friendless. Let me rephrase that I had only one friend since I got into college,Anita Monroe. She is fun on her own though and..

"Young lady,do I have to always come up here to get you ready for school?"

Mom popped her head through the door way. I groaned."I'll skip lectures for today."I said.

Mom frowned at me."No way Lisa. Get up and go."

"Fine I'm leaving. But I won't be back this weekend." I said stomping off to the bathroom.

I knew what her reaction will be. She would be shaking her head and asking God why she had such a troublesome child. I smiled and turned on the shower,better get this done with,I mumbled to myself.

I rushed past mom and headed for the door without giving her the usual goodbye kiss. She stopped me and I groaned inwardly "yes mom I'm late."

"What about breakfast?" she asked.

"Mom I'm no longer in high school and I can definitely eat anytime." I whined.

"That's why you are so skinny,come here and eat something."she insisted.

Knowing my mom well,I grabbed a toast,kissed her cheek and ran for the door.

She grinned." Love you."

"Love you too!" I yelled out to her.

Getting into my car I turned on the ignition and drove out of the yard. I wasn't particularly interested in getting early to college but Anita had called me insisting she had something interesting to tell me and the killjoy won't say it over the phone.

As I drove toward college I kept wondering what she had to say? Did my dream come through? I almost laughed at my stupidity. Of course not, it's all hogwash. I was just thinking too much.

I finally got to college and parked my car and got out in desperation. I wondered why I was so interested in what Anita had to say. I for once I'm never interested in anything.

My cell phone beeped and her message came on 'the cafeteria' I walked towards the cafeteria and as usual got those stares from everyone I saw. I never wondered why. The fake news had spread to college too.

But today,their stares were intense. Maybe my hair wasn't in place,maybe my outfit was not fashionable or maybe I'm just disliked. Today I wasn't worried about their stares. I craned my neck seeking for my one good friend.

"Lisa!"

I turned left at the sound of the familiar voice. I grinned and walked towards her and embraced her in a tight hug. Now I knew why I was desperate to see her. I missed her. I missed the girl with fiery red hair and beautiful eyes.

We pulled apart. " I thought you wouldn't come you lazy girl." She said

"I didn't want to but, I was interested in what you had to tell me."

Anita smiled mischievously and I knew she was up to something.

"Ann wat is it?" I asked.

She did that smile again. I was dying to know what she wanted to say. "Please stop the suspense I beg you." I pleaded.

"You look beautiful today." She finally said grinning. My mouth almost fell open. Was she kidding? Did she call me to get to school on time just to tell me I'm beautiful?! "Spill it Ann." I said with a stern look.

"Okay fine,you are such a killjoy"

"So are you. Talk."

"Ethan asked me on a date!" She squealed holding my hands. I exclaimed in delight and she had to close my mouth because everyone turned to glare at our direction.

"Hush..."she mouthed but I knew she couldn't hide her excitement.

"I'm so happy for you. Finally you've got what you want and deserve."

"I'm so excited Lisa. I've waited for him to notice me and he finally did." She squealed again.

I was so happy for her. She loved Ethan right from when we were just freshmen and now he was officially hers. She deserved him,I have never seen anyone more gorgeous than this red haired who I'm proud to be friends with.

"Cmon," she urged me out of the cafeteria."we have history class now."

I groaned "it's too early."

She laughed at me."it isn't so bad."

"You say so because you're such a bookworm," my eyes suddenly lit up with an idea." How about we ditch history class and take a ride downtown."

She slapped my arm playfully." You love ditching school and then you say your life is boring."

"It is boring. I need adventure. Something different and amazing to experience." I said to her as we walked past a group of boys who stared at me like I've grown two horns.

"Oh Lisa,I hope you find that soon."

"In this boring school?and this boring state?"I scoffed."I doubt it."

She laughed at me and we approached the hall where history was to be taken. I groaned again and tried my luck." Please Ann let's ditch history."

She pulls me into the class." Nice try Lisa."

I groaned inwardly as we went to our seats. "You are such a killjoy." I said to her.

"You love me."was her reply.

Her smile increased and I turned to see why,oh great, Ethan. He winked at her and sent a wave my way. I waved back and turned to Anita.

"Stop blushing." I teased.

"I'm not." She turned pink.

"Hmm,I doubt it."

She smacked my arm."shut up."

I did an imaginary zip over my lips indicating it was sealed. She burst out laughing and I joined her.
