My eyes opened... I didn't understand where or how... Heaven? Hell? It was a nice lake with a mountain setting... it was pretty...
getting up slowly with astonishingly little pain, I went to the water's edge and looked down at my reflection to see a very minor scrape but I noticed something... the reflection was blinking when I wasn't.... When it saw my confusion it smiled at me... then seemingly swam away.... where my reflection should of been was not but rippling water of trees and mountain and sky.
Backing up a little freaked out by the whole thing and not knowing where I was at the time. As the panic swelled inside me I went to go scream out but right as a word was going to utter from my lips a voice came from behind me.
"I wouldn' do tha' if I were ye, no' safe with em biggens round these parts" a hushed, sweet but stoned tone came in warning...
As I turned I saw a man with slightly pointed tipped ears and prominant blue hair with black undertones.
"w...who are you?" I asked in a somewhat of a scared stutter
"Oh yea, where are my manners when we have the threat o' bein eaten alive at Stallion Lake? Oh, I kno'! On survival maybe instead of introductions at this point in time?" the stranger kinda laughed in sarcasam.
I stood there looking at him with a confused look.
"yer not from round here are ya?" he asked, slightly tipping his head.
"n..no... where's here?" I trembled on the words and had to roll it around
"listen, I make ya a deal, how bout we make it outta here fist and I'll tell yo-" he began before the earth trembled a bit and a roar came from a nearby woods; "ok, talks over, run with me deary"
He grabbed my arm and we took off in a full dead sprint. The earth trembled again and I tripped. falling to the ground I took a glimpse behind us to see a massive beast, it was human but not at the same time.
Screaming and the man pulling me up and jerking me back to running, it was then that I wished my coach had pushed running more than he did.
We eventually got to a place where a small town was in view and there were towers surrounding it. As the monster got closer there were muffled shouts from the towers and then lines that seemed to be arrows flying across the sky at the beast and with accuracy they hit their mark in the beast's eye. At the impact the beast seemed to sway on its legs before crashing the the ground and taking a couple trees with it on its way down.
A few moments later men and women came out from the town with equipment of saws and blades and wagons drawn by huge horses. As we turned to go inside a building I saw a few of them disecting the beast.
When we got inside there was an older lady cleaning a glass mug. Her face was skewered with annoyed concentration to get one little spot. She glanced up to look at us before returning to the mug.
"You the one to summon the brute out there?" she asked the man
"Nah, he smelt er fear an came a comin' at er" he replied to the woman.
"now why would she do somethin like tha' Rackel?" she asked the man who then turned around and tilted his head like a gesture that that was his name before turning back to the woman.
"You didn even tell er yer name?!" she yelled at him
"Well it's kinda hard when ya got a giant on yer ars!" he retorted like an angsty teen, "but she got em cause she hasn't been round the area before."
"Is she from the castle then?" asked the older lady
"I dunno Scarlet, why don ya ask er?" Rackel questioned her, a little skeptical of her asking him over myself.
Not wanting to stand much longer while they bantered over my existance, I found a bench at one of the tables in the pub. It had beautiful carvings in it that looked like they were from the vikings time. In the center though was what I could make out of a dragon and soldiers with swords and shields in the mist of a great battle. As beautiful as the imagery was though I couldn't help but wonder why this place looked so old, like a preserved relic, fascinating but odd that everything was in such great condition.
Looking around at the rest of the pub I noticed the old posters and bounty papers on a designated bounty wall. Next to all of them was a section of a long piece of paper that stated trade at the top. Rather stiffly in the legs after running from the giant that was being cut up currently outside, I stood and walked over to the orders. There towards the top, I kid you not, was giant lungs wanted by Kanara Kingdom and giant toes for Lutheran Keep. Each at a price of 300 rune. Odd, I never heard what rune is before now. Maybe a currency or item? Wherever I am it is strange. I thought giants were only in fairytales parents told their children to let them dream of greater things than what actually exsisted in the retched world.
"-eary, has she gone deaf? Girl! What is your name!" Scarlet was shouting at me, breaking my concentration on the list.
For how long she was yelling at me, was beyond my knowledge though...
"My name is Laraine, Scarlet" I replied kinda questioning why she needed to know so badly.
"So you're the girl from the other side?" she asked me.
I paused... "what's that supposed to mean?"....
