First Rise

I woke up groggy from the long night due to Rackel's late night venture that I wish I could forget. So like the walls of last night, my head was pounding and my stomach was groaning for food.

The smell of food, what scented of pancakes or sweet bread filled my nose from something downstairs. I went down the battered steps to the main floor of the pub. Sure as hell Scarlet had made a thing that looked like bread pancakes and banana milk I presume.

The bread pancakes looked like normal pancakes but thicker like a loaf of bread. Banana milk on the other hand looked like it had chunks of bananas mashed into the milk and stirred to perfection. Three meals of this sat at a round wooden table with its minor imperfections and designs carved into the wood.

As I went towards the kitchen area to find Scarlet she came halfway out of her room before she paused and gave me a smile and gestured towards the breadcakes "help yourself dear."

Sitting down at a spot at random I heard a swinging of a door opening and angry footsteps coming down the stairs followed by another set. I could only imagine it was Rackel and his late night lover.

When she came down the stairs I was in awe. Her skin was a pale pink that was predominantly white, she had freckles that shone like white glitter on her face, her hair was white with the same tone of pink. She had a slender, cute framed body that was currently tensed up and angry.

"I thought you could though! That's what you told me last night!" she screamed at Rackel

"Listen Natra, anyone woulda done the same thing as me if they were in my position and told you they could get you pregnant to bang ya" Rackel tried to solemnly explain but they explanation fell on her unwilling ears.

"So you lie to me!? I gave myself to you for a reason and this is what I get!" she raged on.

"Well, yea. Honestly, what else would you expect from a person with a gal who is just passin through town?" Rackel stated with a little laugh.

With the last thing said she huffed with anger and slammed the door to the pub behind her, leaving a smiling Rackel in the middle of the stairs and door. Eventually he turned and started heading towards the table setup and sat down.

"Gals, am I right?" he huffed in mock laughter.

I ended up just taking a mouthful of breadcake and looking at him like he was crazy.

Scarlet looked between me and Rackel and gave an 'oh boy' look before breaking the awkward tension, "so, Rackel, you should show Ms. Laraine around town deary. Bond a little before you're off on your journey, ya know?"

Rackel and I both choked on our food and looked at her with a what the hell face; Scarlet on the other hand just smiled at us two.

Before we both knew it she was ushering us out the door after breakfast to explore the town.

I looked at him briefly as he took a deep breath and looked around, "So where to first captain?"

"Don call me tha, ever" he looked at me like a disappointed father

"Whatever you say Captain Rackel, I'm just here for the ride" I said with a mock grin.

He rolled his eyes and started walking away in the direction of a small leaning building with a pair of old fashioned scissors on the door. When we walked into the shop it was a barber with a pair of shiny scissors.

"She'll get the 7 cut" Rackel ordered the barber and gestured towards me and threw him a small bag of something that when it hit the man's hand it made a jingle noise.

Within moments notice the barber grabbed a hold of me, sat me in a chair, and then proceeded to snip away at my hair. If I tried getting up from the chair the barber would stop and grab my head to pull me back into the chair.

By the time I was done in the chair it was almost past noon and I had spiky hair. I was scared but it didn't matter to them. Rackel paid the barber and he grabbed me by the hand and dragged me out of the shop with him.

"What the absolute hell was tha-"

"Stop and shut yer mouth before ya start yellin at me dearest flower, you stand out like a black sheep among the white sheep. The mere fact that nobody has noticed yer soreness is bafflin alone from yer hair." Rackel stated in a low mutter

I stopped being angry and thought for a second on this matter and agreed but the fact that that amount of force was used to get me to do that, not to mention letting me in on what was going on at the barber shop, was overbearing...

"So what if they noticed? Why didn't he do anything about it?" I mumbled a little too loud since he heard and turned me around to look him dead in the eyes by grabbing my chin to meet his gaze.

"Listen princess, as far as they're concerned right now, you. are. mine. Nobody will take a second glance at you or question my actions against you. So if I ask someone, for instance, to chop yer hair down, they don't care and will do it at my will" he smiled before adding on "because you are mine in this life. If the people find out where you're from, they'll be afraid and most likely revolt and kill you, so be grateful."

With that I just decided to keep my mouth shut and continue walking on with him without rejection. We went to a couple more stops but then retired back to the tavern for a night's rest in our beds.

Thankfully Rackel didn't have another guest over that night.
