Chapter 1: Heartbreak...

I was watching a movie with my brother, Zen, and my friend Kiersten, who had to stay with us while her sister had to use her room to quarantine.

It was about 10' o clock at night when my mom and stepdad were supposed to be heading home from work.

Right as we got to the good part of our movie, I got a call from my mom.

"Hey mom," I greeted I heard my mom's heavy breathing on the other end.

"Gabby! I need you to do something for me!" she said urgently. My heart dropped, something was wrong.

"What- what is it?" I looked at zen and Kiersten with a panicked looked. Pausing the movie they watched me pace back and forth as my mom began to respond

"Gabby, lock all the doors and cover the windows. The virus has gotten worse. There has been an outbreak, they had already got..... they go Brian" she began to cry. I could hear various screams and screeches. in the background of the call.

"What do you mean it got worse?! What's happening?!" I began to panic. I turned to Zen and Kiersten. "Go lock the doors and windows now!" I ordered them.

Jumped up they ran around the house.

"Mom, what's happening," I said in a shaky breath as I started to lock my window in my room, with Bella sleeping in the bed.

"Gabby, listen carefully, the virus had gotten worse. It basically turned them into mutants, they're kinda slow but some are surprisingly fast. One had gotten Brian while we were running. Put me on speakerphone I have a few things t explain to all of you" she said as I called them back and clicked the speaker button

"We're here mom," I said taking a deep breath

"Guys listen to me. I probably don't have long, where's Bella? Sleeping?" she asked as we heard some groans in the background.

"She's asleep" Zen responded

"Go get her," she said as I ran to our room and shook her awake "Bella wake up! Come on!" I urged. Picking her up I carried her to the kitchen as zen told mom we were all here.

"Guys, I need you to stay together. This virus is now spreading. I sadly won't be able to come home...i just wanted to tell y'all I love you so much, so so much." she began to cry as I started to get cry.

An inhuman scream had let out on the other side of the phone as we all jolted back, Bella began to cry.

"I need you guys to find a place to hide. This wave hasn't hit the neighborhood yet I hope. Just stay together and try to call your dad, i love yo-" she said as a horrible scream left her mouth as I grabbed the phone and quickly hung up.

I went to call dad, and as I was about to hit his contact he started facetiming me. I answered the call and looked at my dad in horror. His nose had started to look like a bat nose, and one of his eyes was white.

"Gabby! Is that you?" he said as I started to cry " yes! I'm here dad Zen and I are both here" I spoke

"Gabby, where is your mom?" he asked

"she's gone dad, those things got her" zen said as their dad's ears began to point up and turn an odd blackish grey color. We saw tears form in his eye.

"Guys look this is what happens when you get bit, I need yall to stay safe, and with each other, you guys are going to be alone," he said as he screamed in pain. "I love yall, you'll always be my babies, stay safe, grab a car, and head to the lakehouse It should be secluded and you... you should be fine. Pray God watches over you." he says as we watched his last eye turn white and his teeth sharpen as he dropped the phone and we say his whole form. His body had flesh torn in various spots with a bit mark on his arm, his nails sharpened and his ears grew out. He had no sense of control as he looked like a bat mutant. calling out he ran off, stomping on the phone.

The call ended as everyone was speechless. We watched as Kiersten heard a similar call and we all looked at each other. Red-faced and teary-eyed we had a plan.

Get to the lakehouse....our safe place.
