Chapter 25

Lukas left with his team the very same night, he talked with Elina. But not long after he left Elina's office door flew open.

"Why did neither of you tell me that he is going to Clear Lake pack? " Crystal said with obvious anger in her voice.

"Because we were sure you would act exactly how you are acting right now. " Elina said and went back to her work.

Crystal paced around the room with irritation and asked again "What if that bastard did something again? You know we heard he was looking for him. What if he hurt Luke again? "

"Why can't you think positively? Maybe he is repenting and wants to patch things between them. " Elina said still concentrated on her work.

"HIM? The asshole who rejected his mate, I don't think that is possible but even if you are right do you think he deserves forgiveness because I don't. " Crystal declared and glared at Elina who finally looked at her.

But before Elina could say anything another voice spoke

"Who rejected who? "

Both the girls looked at the door same time and realised that it was left open and now three people were standing there.

In the middle was Emma who looked indignant with both of her hands on her way hips. On either side of her were Cassius and Crescenzo and both of them had grim expressions on their faces.

"Explain yourself, I don't want to hear a word of a fallacy. " Emma said and walked inside followed by both the boys.

Elina and Crystal shared a look and they both knew both saw the same look on the other face.

Oh no.....

On the other hand, Lukas was in a range rover, speeding towards their destination. He was looking out of the window, completely ignoring the chatter of the boys with him.

He knew what he was signing for when he agreed to this task but that does not mean he was not feeling apprehensive, not to mention his wolf was silent on this too. He has grown accustomed to his endless chatter so now this silence was unnerving. He took a deep

'Hey, Max... I know that you are there and you are listening to me..... I just wanted to say that I am sorry you don't have a mate... I wasn't good enough but it is not the same for you... if you want I will talk to him.....'

'Shut up ' Max screamed in his head, 'I am upset yes, but I am angry more than that. He had no right to treat you the way he did, and I am glad to be with you. I was worried my anger will affect your emotions too so I was being quiet. '

'Alright, I am sorry, and not talk about this again. We need to get as much rest as we can. " Lukas said and relaxed into his seat.

"Alpha, all the warriors are on standby, those who can't fight have been settled in the bunkers. " a warrior came and told the dark-haired man standing near a cottage.

"Any news from the Royal army? " the Alpha asked.

"No Alpha. " the warrior bitterly replied.

"Go ahead then. " the Alpha said in the same flat tone.

The warrior looked worried but did not bother the man, instead hurried to his position.

"Maybe it's too late... " the Alpha muttered. He looked one last time towards the cottage and then walked away.

His back was straight and head held high. Even if he knew it could be his last battle, it did not waver his confidence. He walked steadily, towards his pack and stood in front of them.

They could hear the sound of hundreds of paws hitting the ground. It was coming near and near and near when...

"CHARGE " the Alpha spoke. And right after his command, he changed into a midnight black wolf and after him, all his warriors did the same and ran towards the rogue coming towards their territory.

Rogues, we're filthy creatures who were devoid of any humanity, their sole aim was destruction, many times they were not even of sound mind. Misery followed where ever they stepped, causing terror and panic. They smelled of blood and decay, which disgusted every creature alike.

The black wolf was fighting four rogues at once, tearing them apart, trying to finish as many as he can. Many were deterred by his ferocious act, an angry Alpha is not what they would mess around with at regular times. But even if their steps falter at times, they kept on coming.

The ground was littered with blood and fallen bodies of both the warriors and the rogues. The pack had decided to fight them to a bitter end so even if the rogues kept pouring in they kept on fighting even with grave injuries.

It was at this time they heard another round of thunderous sounds of paws hitting the ground. At this moment, all the warriors even the Alpha believed that a stronger force is here to attack them. They can't smell who it is but knew it was something much stronger than these decaying rogues.

The Alpha let out a frustrated growl in the direction of the sound but he stopped when he saw a chocolate brown wolf emerging from the woods. The wolf reeked of dominance and authority following him was a huge group of wolves who looked menacing.

The brown wolf did not even spare a glance towards the Alpha instead took his wolves right in the middle of battle. The newcomers attacked the rogues vigorously, along with them came witches, who worked on healing the pack members.

"I can help you heal if you would just back off a little bit. " A blonde woman said to the Alpha with a small on her face.

The black wolf shook its enormous head and dived headfirst in the battle again. He refused to sit until these intruders are on his land and his pride refuse to back out from a fight.

Soon with the help of the new group of wolves the fight came to an end. And a group of rogues tried to run away but were instantly chased by the followers of brown wolves.

"Derek, you ok buddy? " a light brown-haired man asked the black wolf. He looked anxious as he looked at the heavily wounded wolf who turned into a man now.

"I am ok, what about you? " Derek asked his beta and best friend, Evan.

"I am alright, and the pack's condition is not too bad, at least better than what we expected. " Evan said, finally relieved that his Alpha and friend his Ok.

"Excuse me, but you two needed to be treated. " a voice with a very thick African accent said.

Both the Alpha and Beta found a black woman, glaring at them and their injuries.

The Alpha quirked up his eyebrow, it has been a long time since someone glared at him. He was almost amused if not for the intensity of the situation. He cleared his throat and tried to reply nicely, much to the annoyance of his wolf.

"I am sorry miss, but I need to check on my pack." He said

But the woman simply rolled her eyes " Hazel offered to treat you before, but you ran off to fight. Now, I am not afraid of you Mr Alpha so you better stand still and let me do my work. "

Derek wanted to tell her off but a firm grip on his shoulder stopped him, he looked back at his beta who was looking at the other end of the forest transfixed. He followed his sight and found a person standing there, one who he was looking for for the past two years. And a gasp left his lips

"Lukas..."
