Jake could feel that something was wrong when he entered the fifth room. There wasn't anything visible, but there was a sense of dread in the air. It wasn't clean like the rest of the rooms, but it also didn't look like any zombies had come in. Just like a normal hotel room with people staying in it. Every room was empty, but the looming presence could be felt hunting him.
He had a pair of salted knives in his inventory and a heavy shotgun filled with slug rounds in his hands, but he still felt like it wasnt safe. Closing his eyes, he felt the air around him. The vibrations in the air started to build an image in his head of the room. It wasn't exact, nor extremely accurate, but he could feel a general area of where the presence was. He aimed in its direction and fired.
The loud shot attracted Taff's attention, but when he looked at it, he hadn't hit anything.
"Are you okay!?!"
"Yah, just thought I thought I saw something. Must have been nothing."
An extremely soft sigh of relief was let out. Jake pumped and shot again, this time sending a slug right through its head and its body falling to the floor.

It was another mutant. Sometimes called the Commander, they enhance the abilities of other zombies and slip away in stealth and assassinate enemy leaders or cause them to slowly go crazy and get their people killed. It looked like a normal zombie with blades in place of its arms and only three fingers. In pictures it had a really large head, but this one had been completely destroyed.
"Oh my gosh!? I didn't even see that thing."
"Yah, I couldn't see it either, but I could hear it. Let's finish up the sweep so we can start setting up."
They went through and about half of the rooms were empty, the other half did not have any more zombies so they could finally start building up their defenses. Jake took out the tool book and started ripping out all the appliances in one of the rooms and moving them into the floor of the room they chose to stay in. Jake found all the parts he would need for a power generator, water filter, and omni-tool.
"I'm going to get a generator up and running, would you mind boarding up the windows?"
"Sure."
About an hour and a few mistakes later, Jake finished the generator.

Jake placed a strength gel into the generator to power it, and turned it on. It wasn't hooked up to anything so it was just making power and putting it into a backup battery for now. He opened up the domain menu where he could see all of the rooms, allies, and appliances available. There was a TV, fridge, hot towel rack, and a few other things that would either be useless without the internet or just inferior to the system inventory they had.
He closed it down and started working on building the omni-tool. It had a piece that let it connect into the code of any device as well as welder, multiple screwdriver tips, and it could fabricate small wires to connect the inner workings of maseins.
In Jake's homeworld omni-tools were something that every engineer and mech user got, and mechanical crafters would eventually have to build their own so there were plenty of blueprints to choose from. He charged up the omni-tool and used it to build the water filter before he decided to check in on Taff and go to bed.
"Hey, I finished up everything. I have the generator up and running as well as the water filter. Any water you pour in will be instantly purified."
She had already installed locks on the door that required a pin to be pulled out, so even if humans could get in the zombies couldn't. She had also put up wood or metal on all the windows, and was now cleaning up her weapons and making sure they were all loaded and ready.
"Alright. I have about 600 rounds left for my sniper and 1400 for my other guns so we will have to go looking for some soon."
"Sure thing, I have to get to bed."
He hopped into the king size bed and slept. More than anything he wanted to get some sleeping potions so that he could get through this quest quickly so he wouldn't fall behind his groupmate. At the end of the day he wasn't super talented so his growth rate would be average in his own world and would need everything he could get.
He woke up for another day in his regular body and decided potions would be his first purchase once he could afford it. With only $500 any potion he would get would probably be made wrong and might kill him or just not work. He got up and ate with his group and went to magic class.
"Most mana is channeled through a magic circle to give it its effect, and the perfect example of this is a scroll. Some scrolls have the mana in them, and ripping the page will activate it but others are just very precise drawings that shape the mana put into it. Now this scroll is one of the latter and is built to have as much mana efficiency as possible."

"Any spell can have as much mana as the caster chooses of course, but this means that the same amount of mana does more, but remember that after a certain amount depending on the spell the efficiency will seriously drop off, so raw power increase will be better than mana efficiency when trying to high amounts of mana into a spell."
"Anyone with mana can make these circles in the air, but they require a lot of practice to get even the simplest one to work so only high level schollors can use them freely, so for now I recommend using the spells you have rather than trying to get this amount of control."
"So when..."
