Chapter 3 New World

"It's a boy, it's a boy!" The midwife declared loudly which brought smiles on the faces of those present who begun to celebrate merrily. The new born baby with jet black hair and wrinkled pale bloody body wailed loudly, regardless of how hard they to calm him, he refused.

Suddenly panic and tension filled the room when the midwife noticed that the young lady was not moving or breathing, her eyes were gentle and a small smile tagged on her lips. Handing the baby to the other helpers to clean him and wrap him up, she drew closer only to see that the mother had paled and felt cold.

She gasped in shock and stepped back in fright!!

Outside the room, the young master carried his new born baby fondly, it had stopped wailing and was sleeping peacefully but then he heard the panicked voices from inside. He didn't even flinch. As the ladies fought to try to revive the new mother, her husband walked away with the baby never to be heard of ever again.

Having materialised in an ally in the capital, he dropped the baby wrapped in blue silk fabric, leaving him with only a crescent moon shaped pendant around his neck and hid somewhere to keep an eye on the baby. Waking up or probably hungry,he suddenly wailed which attracted a passer by. It was a middle aged female who dropped her basket and rushed to hold the baby to stop it from crying. One the baby calmed down, she inspected the area to see if anyone was watching or wanting to claim it's ownership but since no one seemed bothered, the middle aged female found a son for himself and home she went.

Two centuries later

Two young men had decided to camp near an oasis to relax and freshen up. One with golden brown hair was playing in the water trying to cool himself down from the heat of the desert while the other with jet black hair was sitting on a rock lost in his thoughts with a piece of animal skin and a white feather which he was using to scribbling something down.

'Our kind was created after the angels, the creatures of the light, whereas us, we were created from smokeless fire. Our ancestors were too arrogant and dared to want to claim supremacy even over The Creator and as such, a great battle between our kind and the creatures of light occured millions of years ago. We were highly implicated as we lost the females from our kind to greater numbers. We surrendered and we were given another chance hence we were no annihilated from the face of the universe. Another creature was created by The Creator and he was made from clay. He stayed in the most beautiful place till he too disobeyed and was cast to earth. Since earth was given to man, many of our kind chose to go to different stars in the galaxy, adapted to the conditions there and well the rest is history.

Those that chose to remain and share the habitat with man were forced to never reveal their existence and our proud nature played a bigger role in this.

Humans were weak but kind hence we chose to tolerate them and pretend they never existed. Getting to my main point, we have lived among humans since their creation and actually found mates in them...reason? our females depleted in number during the war hence for a chance to keep existing, we went for the human females though it's FORBIDDEN. But still we made mates out of them creating a hybrid that was not a threat to our kind and could be tamed if they dared to go out of control.'

My name is Zeyn, my grandmother told me lots about our history and it was so fascinating, am so eager to know more but I had to wait two centuries to finally be permitted to leave. We are going dimension travelling with my best friend Xafir. He's twenty years younger than me but he's the most jolly and most talkative between us

"Hey, Zeyn!! Get up already, we are going to be late." A young adonis with golden brown hair and the most captivating orange eyes nugged his friend. "Your writing again? Such a bore!!"

"Why don't we just teleport there? Why do we have to hit the road?" complained Zeyn.

"Because that's what adventure is all about!" Xafir looked at Zeyn impatiently.

"Which dimension, Mr Adventure?!" Zeyn asked sarcastically.

"The human dimension. I read about it that it has the most beautiful scenaries!" Xafir said exaggeratedly.

"Yeah, trying to hook me to go there!" Zeyn stood up and placed his things in a white animal skin bag.

"Am being serious!!" Xafir said exasperatedly.

"Fine let's go!" Zeyn replied lazily.

The two young men threw their bags over their shoulders and left the oasis to proceed with their journey.

"Did we really have to go through the deserts? Those blood suckers will end us!!" Zeyn's blue eyes scanned the area as they walked further. All around them was huge heaps of unending sand.

"That's the spirit of adventure, fight monsters, sleep under the night sky, run for your life in dire situations!!" Xafir was excited. He only wished they could encounter such things. His andreline was high in expectation and a silly grin was on his face.

"Your crazy!!" Zeyn wondered where he found such a friend and on top of that, a best friend!! If only he could unfriend him, be was real trouble!!!

"And your lazy!" Retorted Xafir.

Hours later...

"We are here." Xafir announced.

"Yeah right! At least we didn't encounter those bizarre situations you spoke of." Zeyn provoked Xafir.

Before them was what looked like a door and it was made blue flames.

"You know the drill right?" Xafir turned to look at his buddy who wore a bored expression. Both young men cut a few strands of their hair and presented it to the blue flames. Floating to the flames, their hairs burned into ashes, an opening was paved for them and they walked through it only to land into a bustling city.

"Wooow!!" Xafir was bewildered his orange eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

"Stop exaggerating, it's not different from back home." Zeyn was annoyed. Have you ever had a friend who gets on your nerves often that you just want to smack him hard?!

"Hey, our architecture is far better!" Defended Xafir with a pout.

"Yeah right, now where do we go?" This idiot better have a plan.

"Let's stroll around, might find something interesting." replied Xafir.

'What did I expect?' Zeyn rolled his eyes.

The two young men proceeded to look around the city. The sun was high up in the sky, it was a beautiful scenery as colorful fabrics swayed with the wind. A few performers danced, sung and made acrobatics as the citizens cheered on for them. Merchants were busy calling on buyers to their stalls, beautiful maidens strolled around, the kids were humpty dumpty all over as they played.

"Their energy is so, so weak. I can feel it." Zeyn's chest was tightening as his energy urged him to drain the humans. It was because of their sacrifice to the portal.

"Yeah, they are weak indeed!" Xafir had a sour expression on his handsome face. His chest hurt so bad!! It was not the same with other dimensions, damn!!!

"I want to go to the mountains, I need to paint." Zeyn needed to relax.

"No way, we just got here!! We need to eat, find a place to sleep, go to entertainment houses, there's lots of things to do before we go to your boring painting." Xafir listed their to do list. He was already regretting coming to this dimension but if he was left alone, how was he going to manage. He was to lazy to use his brains!!

But Zeyn decided not to heed to his gloomy mood, "Fine, proceed to find where we shall be staying and whatever it is that you think we need. I'll be back once am done painting." and he turned his back.

"Curse you!" yelled Xafir.

"Athousand times!" Zeyn counter attacked only to leave his buddy groaning in pain at the attack. It might look like a joke but for them, a curse was one thing their kind had to counter before it materialised into a real curse that could cause damage depending on the casters energy.

Zeyn walked towards the mountains, he had something he had to collect from there. He chose to materialsie there than walk but he reached a place that had a barrier. It was at the peak of the mountain which was covered with snow. Scanning the area with his sharp blue eyes, he felt a presence behind him and a cold tip of probably metal on his spine but didn't panic nor flinch.

"What are you?"Asked a male voice.

"I don't know, am here to find out." The last thing he wanted was to fight.

This was not those he could defeat, the creature in form of a human withdrew his weapon warily. "Come in." The barrier paved a way for him and he walked through it only to be feasted with a castle made of ice. It was so huge, magnificent and very beautiful, it's light and dark blue walls blended in beautifully with the snow around it.

"Follow me", the man disappeared and Zeyn followed suit. Reaching inside, it was actually warm and not cold as it seemed from the outside. He was brought to a seat that was made of animal skin - probably white wolves skin and asked to make himself comfortable.

Giving him tea, the man sat across him and looked back at the young man. "So?"

"I'm from Jaliv."

"Parents, lineage?"

"Have no clue."

"The energy around isn't yours." the man said. He was sure.

"Yeah!" Zeyn knew better.

"It's strong, I won't be able to see past it." That was a life force and it had repercations.

"What do I do then?" Zeyn felt hopeless.

"The one who brought you up knows the answers." the man said.

"She doesn't!" Zeyn was sure that his granny knew nothing about it. He had asked her.

.

"Then I also don't!"

"Know of anybody else who can help?" Zeyn asked patiently.

Letting out a sigh, "If you try to break the energy around you, it's owner is going to perish." He warned.

Zeyn frowned at this revelation 'What? His granny will perish? He can't be selfish!!' he thought. "I'll leave, thanks for the knowledge." he stood up immediately. There were things he'd never afford to loose. Though he wanted to know who he was, that didn't mean he was ready to sacrifice a life for it.

"Mmmm" was the man's curt reply.
